The Democratic Primary: Recapped

Presidential primaries are odd things, in the scheme of things. If you're a news junkie like me, you're paying attention practically all the time to what is going on. But strangely, what happened just a few months ago becomes a distant, fuzzy memory compared to what is going on right now.
Remember Joe Biden? Christopher Dodd? Bill Richardson? John Edwards? Dennis Kucinich? Doesn't the time of the stage filled with nine or so people, all vying for the Democratic nomination seem like forever ago? And I'm sure by the time we get hip-deep in the general election, all this Hillary vs. Barack drama will seem distant and fuzzy too. Unless there's a twist ending. . .

Bill Richardson Drops out of Presidential Race?

Photo from Democracy for New Mexico

I add the question mark because this has been up in the air, and back and forth. He's in, he's out, he's in. . .I'm pretty sure he's out now. And as good a candidate as he is on paper, like Christopher Dodd and Joe Biden, he was just not lighting up the electorate. Meanwhile, Dennis Kucinich and John Edwards remain in the race with the two front-runners, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Let's hope one or both of them stay a while to keep it interesting.

Richardson planned to announce the decision Thursday, according to two people close to the governor with knowledge of the decision. They spoke on a condition of anonymity in advance of the governor's announcement. . .

Dodd & Biden Drop out of Presidential Race

I think this may be overdue, even after this, the first official contest in the Presidential race. This campaign has been going on for an awfully long time, and is littered with coulda-woulda-shoulda-been contenders. I think Dodd and Biden are both excellent politicians, and either would make a good president. But the writing has been on the wall for quite some time now. Next up, Richardson? And what of the over-stuffed Republican ticket?

This particular news item is too new to source. . .I caught it on MSNBC. But interestingly, I found this item using almost the same language I used above. Spooky.

What do Bill Richardson, Joseph Biden and Christopher Dodd have in common? If only one of them were running for the Democratic presidential nomination, it might be a different-looking race. . .
