Wow! These things are often uncomfortable. Either they're edgy and scathing, or they're safe and cringe-worthy. I don't think there has been a middle point for any I've seen. Stephen Colbert set the high-water-mark for brilliant but uncomfortable. Wanda Sykes managed to come close, but with a few more belly-laughs. And this year, Joel McHale (not known, really, for stand-up) managed a few big laughs, and was really uncomfortable at times. It was wildly uneven, and even split reactions on both sides of the aisle. I mostly loved it, but also felt for him on a few occasions where he seemed to be projecting more confidence than he probably really was feeling. Still, all in all? Worth watching, and very funny. And again. . .uncomfortable.
