Sen. Rob Portman Has Change of Heart on Gay Marriage
Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) was on the short list for Mitt Romney's Vice Presidential running mate in 2012. So, you can't say he doesn't have at least the establishment GOP cred. Interesting then, that Portman has come out in defense of marriage equality. Portman has a gay son, which has influenced his position on the matter, much like former Vice President Dick Cheney.
So, every time you hear that a C-list celebrity is gay, and want to say "who cares," here's further evidence that a person's personal knowledge of gay people they are fond of, does influence their attitude toward gay people, usually for the better. Thank you, Senator Portman, and to your son as well.
