Yes, yes, here it is. The Zogby poll that has McCain up 5 points nationally. I still say, big whoop. I'll worry if we're hearing this in October of course, but I ain't worrying about it yet.

Hillary Clinton's Bad Polls Wrong?

Much hay was made recently in Right-wing World over some very bad poll results, saying Hillary Clinton would lose to any of the top-tier Republican candidates for President. Those poll results sounded a bit fishy, and they just may have been. Take a look.

Zogby Internet Poll Trial Heats are Odd

. . .The chart above shows all the trial heat data from national polling and the estimated trend lines for each pairing. The data points for the new Zogby data are indicated in the charts as "Zogby Inet" in blue for Clinton and red for each Republican.

What is immediately clear is that the Zogby Clinton numbers are well below the estimated trend for Clinton in each of the four comparisons. Clinton is consistently 8-10 points below her trend estimate based on other polling. . .

Bush and Congress VERY Unpopular

I've posted several poll samplings from PollingReport.com in the past, and I've been very confused about where this 11% approval rating for Congress has been coming from. Now I know. PollingReport doesn't include Zogby and some others, because their questions are not analogous to the rest, and they don't want to compare them to the other polls in their list.

Fair enough. I'm not sure if that means Zogby's polls aren't as useful, or if they're just too different to include. In any event, Congress did have an 11% approval rating from Zogby last month, so mea culpa for my disbelief.

And this month, things have not improved for Congress. What's more, President Bush's approval ratings are down to an all-time low of 24%. And ironically, in my view, Congress' numbers are likely down because it is not sufficiently anti-Bush.
