They used to call this stuff "Auto Tune the News," but now it's "Songified." If you don't know what that means, watch the attached (or the opening theme to The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). This one's kind of cute, some real effort put in to make it a song with a chorus and everything. And I love the little bobble-head action from Jeb! Bush.

In Case You Missed It: Mr. Rogers, Auto-Tuned
Yes, I know it has been a very long blogging break. I've posted two quickies since Thursday night, and I'm not ashamed or embarrassed! Every once in a while--and I've now been at this for over 5 years--you need a bit of a break from this blogging thing. Trust me. Anyway, I have another social obligation today, so won't be back for even a little while longer. I'll be back later this evening for my weekly Blast from the Past post, and have something else interesting to start the week with. In the mean time, here is a great clip that's been making the rounds.

Mitt Romney Auto-Tuned: What Does Mitt Like?
For as stiff and forced as Mitt Romney is in most any salutation, he is--unwittingly--being a surprising source of comedy. Here, the Gregory Brothers of Auto-Tune the News fame take their shots.

AutoTuning Charlie Sheen
Okay, so this isn't their best effort, but it's still pretty funny. And yeah, I'm still sad that Charlie Sheen is so clearly messed up, though talented. I hope he sorts it all out.

Autotune the News: The Rent is Too Damn High!
Flash back to one of the more surreal events of the 2010 election, the New York Gubernatorial debate, via the folks at Autotune the News. I know, it seems like a long time ago already, doesn't it? But this clip is actually only a couple of days old, and you know what? I was having a really hard time finding anything I wanted to blog about! Plus, I love these things. So just roll with it, or scroll on past to the next thing!

Auto-Tune the News: "Backin' Up!"
If you haven't watched previous Auto-Tune the News segments, they take real news reports, "Auto-Tune" them, and set them to music, often with hilarious results. This one goes outside the usual format of lampooning pundits and anchors, and goes right to an eye-witness report. With inspired results! Enjoy.

Auto-Tune the News #9: Nobel. health care. United Nations.
Is it lazy blogging to post these things every time they come out? It would be, but I've skipped a couple! Anyway, they're always fun, so here you go.

How Auto-Tune Works
This video clip, from PBS' Nova shows you just how some of the "music" stars of the day can make beautiful music with little to no talent. Is it cheating? Uh, yeah. It's like PhotoShop for music.
At least when Cher and Madonna have used it, it was obvious, tweaking their voices into robotic pitches. Of course, they could have more subtly sweetened their voices with Auto-Tune on other songs without telling us.

Auto-Tune the News Hillary Clinton and More
It took me a little while to understand what the big deal was with this "Auto-Tune the News" thing. I wasn't impressed at first. But it's growing on me, and this one is pretty good. I especially like Hillary Clinton and Katie Couric when auto-tuned.
