Rev. Jeremiah Write Speaks, William Ayers in Attendance

Posted for no other reason than it has made Sean Hannity furious.

[Excerpt]

Rev. Jeremiah Wright had offered the audience nothing more than a slight slouch and the occasional grin, but his very presence was enough to garner him two long, roaring standing ovations by the time he walked up to the Cahn Auditorium podium on Friday to deliver his keynote address. . .

Guilt by Association: What About the Bushes?

Just a quick post to point something out that has floated right over the heads of the John McCain-Sarah Palin campaign, and all of their followers. You guys are so anxious to point fingers at Barack Obama for his past associations. It doesn't matter how well he knows them, only that they are "figures in his past," and "say something about his character."

Mmm hmm. Forget that all politicians have probably been in a room or on a board with many people with unsavory pasts. It's the nature of politics, unfortunately, and I'm sure John McCain is not exempt from it (Keating Five, anybody?).

But if you really want to go for the gold in a "guilt by association" game, how about the Bush Family, and their long-standing relationship with the Bin Laden Family? I'm not saying that there's anything sinister there, but if you follow right-wing logic (and Jeebus help you if you do), what is the difference here?

War or Peace? The World After the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election

. . .In September 11, 2001, the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers in New York City were attacked by airplanes flying into them, followed that morning by an air attack on the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

Terrorists from Al Qaeda, an organization of Islamic extremists associated with the Afghan mujaheddin, and a Saudi figure, Osama bin Laden, alleged to be their leader, were blamed. The wealthy bin Laden family had close ties to the U.S. and the Bush family. . .

The X-Files + McCain Commercial = FOX "News"!

Sometimes, a quick jokey comment can hit the nail squarely on the head. . .

Obama spokesman: Fox 'a mix of an infomercial for McCain and the X-Files'

John McCain's $300 billion mortgage buy-up plan came under intense criticism from economists and experts Thursday because of the burden it would place on taxpayers. On the same day, McCain released a video press release attacking his Democratic opponent for previously associating with a former '60s radical.

Quick, guess what the hosts of Fox & Friends wanted to talk about! . . .

Sean Hannity Needs a Taste of His Own Medicine

Image captured from RawStory.com

There are few television personalities more irritating than Sean Hannity of Hannity & Colmes and Hannity's America on FOX "News." He comes off as a bully, first of all, which raises the hair on my neck immediately. He is very simplistic and binary (black or white, right or wrong) about issues that are nuanced. He front-end-loads his questions with a Caterpillar earth mover, and he is very often rude to the people he disagrees with. To Hannity, you are either a "Great American" or you are an "America Hater." And one "wrong" opinion, or misspoken sentence can move you from the former to the latter.

A typical question from Hannity might be, "Who do you hate more, Jesus or America?" or "Answer the question, yes or no. Have you stopped beating nuns with crowbars? Yes or no? Yes or no?"

But there is sadly no question that Hannity is affecting the Democratic presidential primaries. Both the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and 60s radical Bill Ayers were Hannity's pet issues. He's been beating them to death on his radio and television shows for a very long time, and now that both have burbled to the mainstream, he continues to bleat about it nightly. Hannity even got George Stephanopoulos to ask Barack Obama about Ayers in a debate!

But there's a little problem with Sean Hannity: he's a hypocrite. While it might seem that goes with the territory for a right-wing blowhole, in this case it's more than hyperbole. Check it out.

FOX News Silent About Hannity's Neo-Nazi Connection

Earlier in the week, I wrote to several FOX News executives asking for their comments about Sean Hannity's connection to Neo-Nazi/white supremacist Hal Turner. Given Hannity's and FOX News' endless fascination with Barack Obama's associations, it's only fair that they explain the far more substantial and prolonged relationship between their prime time host and Turner. To date, we have received no response. But the attacks on Obama continue unabated. . .
