This isn't so much a commentary, as a video wrap-up of last night's historic election. Well done, and worth a watch.

Keith Olbermann's Campaign Comment: Alternate Universe
I've pondered the thought behind Countdown with Keith Olbermann's "Campaign Comment" many times, often right here on the blog. When the John McCain/Sarah Palin campaign says something egregious, pulls a gaffe, or a unpleasant fact is revealed, I've wondered, "If Barack Obama did that, wouldn't FOX "News" be ALL OVER IT?"
One of the things left out of Olbermann's comment--probably wisely--was the question of Sarah Palin's coming grandchild. The is relegated to the blogs, and has been since about late week one of Palin's introduction. But imagine if you will that Obama had a teenaged daughter who was 5 months pregnant. Then imagine that he brought the "baby daddy" up on stage at the convention. And imagine that he'd been a typical slacker youth like Levi was, only that he was a black rap fan instead of a white hockey enthusiast. Do you think the Rush Limbaughs, Sean Hannitys and Ann Coulters would have still framed the story as heartwarming? Doubtful.
Anyway, Olbermann had a lot of other "in bounds" things for his list of what if alternate universe scenarios. Check it out.

Keith Olbermann's Campaign Comment: Joe the Plumber
Several posts on this blog have already covered my exasperation with the John McCain campaign's use of "Joe the Plumber." Casting aside all of the problems with Joe's story (such as his name not being Joe, and his not actually being a plumber), the whole Somebody the Something metaphor sounds so childish to me. I feel my intelligence being insulted every time the campaign uses it. And now they've got the guy campaigning with them.
But there's so much more going on with Joe, who is cashing in on his insta-celebrity in a very big way. Tonight's Countdown with Keith Olbermann details it all. It's good. Watch.

Keith Olbermann's Campaign Comment: Palin is a Fraud
"Special Comments" and lately, "Campaign Comments" on Countdown with Keith Olbermann are appointment viewing around chez Greenlee. And as much as I enjoy the host's righteous indignation and fury when railing against the powers that be, I like it more when Olbermann is having fun with his comments. And here, he looks like the cat that swallowed the canary. Watch.

Keith Olbermann's Campaign Comment: McCain, Step Up!
Another Countdown with Keith Olbermann "Campaign Comment," another contented blogger. I love when he gets fired up, and he's right. It's high time John McCain stood up and shouted down the worst elements of his party. The frenzy the right-wingers were thrown into by the Ashley Todd hoax just scratched the surface of their irrational hatreds. McCain should say something about it.

Olbermann: Joe the Failed Campaign Gimmick
Another night, another Campaign Comment from Keith Olbermann. And it's all about the ridiculous Name + the + Occupation theme of John McCain's campaign, in the wake of the head scratching focus on "Joe the Plumber."

Keith Olbermann's Campaign Comment: Palin in 3rd Grade
One of the juiciest features of MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann has always been the host's "Special Comments." But the appearance of these comments has always been sporadic, dictated by the news. Given the ramped-up news cycle of the 2008 elections, Olbermann feels he has a lot more material. But a regular feature cannot accurately be deemed special, so Olbermann has renamed the now near-nightly event as "Campaign Comments."
This is good for Countdown fans, and particularly good for bloggers like me, who are often scrounging for material. So, thanks, Keith!
Is Sarah Palin Smarter than a 3rd Grader? Uh, no. . .
