It's Official: Suicide

Photo from source, dcist

Did that freak you out for a second? I know, I didn't realize how deceased madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey kinda looked like Sarah Palin. Several months ago, Palfrey, who had been found guilty of prostitution, hanged herself in a shed in Florida.

Many--including me--didn't really buy the story. After all, she supposedly had a roster of many powerful and influential Washington, D.C. clients. Something about her death just seemed fishy.

According to this story, her death has officially been deemed a suicide. So much for my conspiracy theory. Now, will conservatives who are currently tinfoil-hatting about Barack Obama's birth certificate give up their fight? Doubtful.

[Excerpt]

Case Closed on D.C. Madam's Suicide
Looks like the story on the D.C. Madam has, finally, come to a close. The police in Tarpon Springs, Fla. are officially ending their investigation into Deborah Palfrey's death, confirming it was indeed suicide. . .

Anthrax Case: FBI Stalked Ivans' Family?

Image from source, MSNBC

I haven't said anything about the 2001 anthrax attacks, and the recent "resolution" of the case. It's a story that leaves me kind of slack-jawed, sort of like that Deborah Jeanne Palfrey "DC Madam" case, only this one had more dire consequences. Yes, both supposed anthrax guy, Bruce Ivans, and Palfrey conveniently committed suicide ("suicided" if you prefer), only in the anthrax case, other people died. In both cases, my Spidey-sense was tingling.

The anthrax attacks were the terrorist attacks after 9/11 that conservatives conveniently forget. And they languished forgotten for many, many years. Then, it all got wrapped up in a nice tidy package, with a dead guy as the prime suspect. You'll get no argument from him.

But, of course many (myself prime among them) think there is much more to this story. It's all very convenient and fishy. Read on, and see what you think.

FBI said to have stalked Ivins' family
Son, daughter, bureau all decline to comment on agents' tactics

Before killing himself last week, Army scientist Bruce Ivins told friends that government agents had stalked him and his family for months, offered his son $2.5 million to rat him out and tried to turn his hospitalized daughter against him with photographs of dead anthrax victims. . .

Conspiracy Corner: DC Madam - 9/11 Connection?

I've already said several times that I have a hard time believing that "DC Madam" Deborah Jeane Palfrey actually committed suicide. I'm far from alone, having read the comments sections of blogs right, left and indifferent. It's a far more compelling conspiracy theory than some, like those that surround Elvis and Marilyn Monroe.

But how far into the weeds are we willing to tread with this one? Could there be a connection between Palfrey and September 11, 2001??? That seems like a reach, doesn't it? Well, maybe, maybe not. . .

[Excerpt]

9/11 Conspiracy Connection To DC Madam Murder

Former NSA analyst and Navy intelligence officer Wayne Madsen tells the The Alex Jones Show that one of the key motives behind the DC Madam's murder may have been the information her call girls picked up from Washington's top brass concerning foreknowledge and government complicity in the 9/11 attacks. . .

More on the DC Madam: Suicide Notes Released

Photo from source, AOL News

I'm sorry. I still don't buy it. It's too neat and tidy. It may be tinfoil-hatty, and I'll concede that my particular helmet does land on my head with some frequency. But this just doesn't convince me.

Convicted "D.C. Madam" Deborah Jeane Palfrey railed against what she called a "modern-day lynching" in notes to her mother and sister before hanging herself at her mother's Florida home, police disclosed Monday. . .

DC Madam: Waiting for the Other Shoe to Drop

Photo from source, Orlando Sentinel

I've already covered the "DC Madam" Deborah Jeane Palfrey's death, but there's one thing (OK, several things) that I really want to know. Where is her phone list? And what else might she have as evidence?

Many, many people (and not just liberals, not by a long shot) think that Palfrey was likely murdered for what she knew. And what we're waiting for is the evidence. This already sounds like a movie, and in movies the "suicided" victim always left behind evidence, right?

This is the part that makes me wonder:

[Excerpt]

On one trip down the stairs, she lugged a 2-foot-wide box she suggested carried materials related to her infamous court case.

"This is my evidence," she told Strizack before carrying it out the door.

DC Madam Warned that She Would be "Suicided?"

Photo from source, Prison Planet

I told you this story made me reach for my tinfoil hat. Obviously, I'm not the only one. Check it out.

[Excerpt]

DC Madam Predicted She Would Be Suicided

DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey predicted she would be "suicided" on several occasions both recently and as far back as 17 years ago - comments that now appear ominous in light of the announcement that the former head of a Washington escort service allegedly killed herself today. . .

DC Madam Palfrey Commits Suicide

Photo from source, Raw Story

A couple of weeks ago, when it was reported that so-called "DC Madam" Deborah Jeane Palfrey was already found guilty at trial, I remarked, "Wow, that was fast. And nary a juicy name in sight. My tinfoil hat beckons with news like that!"

Well, the tinfoil hat is screaming for me now, Palfrey having apparently committed suicide today. And both people on the right and left are hatching theories.

For starters, the woman seemed tenacious, and willing to fight to the end. And secondly, as we all know, her phone number list supposedly held the names of prominent DC personalities, from members of the media to politicians. Talk about motive. And depending upon how powerful some of those on the list were, ample opportunity. It just smells fishy.

Reports: DC madam commits suicide in Florida home

Two weeks after being convicted on federal charges for running a prostitution ring, "DC Madam" Deborah Jean Palfrey has committed suicide at a Florida home, according to several news reports.

Police in Tarpon Springs, Florida say the body was found in a shed near Palfrey's mother's home Thursday morning. There was a suicide note, but police did not disclose its contents. . .

DC Madam Trial to Begin

Photo from source, TPM Muckraker

I confess. Political sex scandals make me inexplicably happy. It doesn't matter if they're a Republican or Democrat (though the kinkiest ones tend to be Republicans). I think it's because most politicians build themselves up so much. They participate in the ultimate of job interviews, putting a glossy sheen on their resume, ignoring the seedier aspects of their lives.

And often, these self-same politicians trumpet their devotion to "traditional family values"--code for "I don't like gay people," while participating in questionable activities of their own. Now, with the start of Deborah Jeane Palfrey's "DC Madam" trial, we may get a heavy dose of schadenfreude.

[Excerpt]

Witness for The Prosecution

You remember the D.C. Madam, the not-a-people-person who ran a high-end escort service out of her laundry room in California.

Well, Sen. David Vitter (R-LA)
certainly does, and in a hearing Friday, Vitter's lawyer was trying his best to keep the senator from being called at Deborah Jeane Palfrey's upcoming trial. Palfrey, who has pleaded not guilty and says that she was running a legitimate "fantasy sex" operation, has subpoenaed Vitter, apparently with the idea that Vitter would testify that no, there was no sex, only fantasy. . .

John Kerry Doesn't Botch Joke!

Photo from dKosopedia.com

Who says John Kerry can't tell a joke? Oh, sure, there was that one time. . . But, he made up for it! Whoever wrote it (maybe Kerry himself), the delivery apparently worked. See what you think:

[Excerpt]

A Democratic aide close to Kerry has confirmed to ABC News that he said, "There once was a man named Vitter / Who vowed that he wasn't a quitter / But with stories of women / And all of his sinnin' / He knows his career's in the -- oh, nevermind."

But then, I guess I'm a sucker for a good limerick.

Who Knew Larry Flynt Was a Tease?

Photo from Wikipedia
C'mon, Larry! Don't hold out on us! Even if a few of them are Democrats, this one has me waiting with bated breath.

[Excerpt]

After broadcast, Hustler won't say whether it has another senator in its sights

David Edwards and Nick Juliano

Telling Larry King that his investigators are working on 30 "solid" leads of prominent Washingtonians engaged in sex scandals, Hustler publisher Larry Flynt said he is now just trying to decide how he will reveal the names.

The publication date for the names has not been finalized, Flynt said, but Hustler could end up printing all 30 at once.

"The last thing now is we don't know if we want to let it to drip, drip, drip or we want to go with everything at once," Flynt said. Read more at: RawStory.com

Larry Flynt: Patriotic Hero?

Photo from source, RawStory.com
Larry Flynt is a lot of things, business man, free speech advocate, and well. . .yeah, OK. . .pornographer. But you have to give the guy credit for holding the right people's feet to the fire! Obviously, Mr. Flynt is a little more than some people make him out to be, or we never would have had The People vs. Larry Flynt up for Oscars, right? And I've always had to give him credit for being upfront about things. Hustler doesn't pretend to be some sort of high-falutin' "gentleman's magazine," it's straight-ahead porn, without the pomp. Whatever you think of it or him, he never tried to portray himself or his business as anything else.

[Excerpt]

Flynt: Hustler involved in more than 20 sex scandal investigations

Hustler publisher Larry Flynt said Wednesday that investigators working for the magazine are involved in more than 20 investigations relating to his recent call for information on Washington sex scandals.

The investigations include "high ranking Republican and Democrat members of the Senate and the House," Flynt said at a press conference in Los Angeles, in which RAW STORY participated via conference call.

DC Madam's List Exposes GOP Senator!

Photo from source, HuffingtonPost.com

Well, how 'bout that? I wonder who else is going to fall out her phone book?

[Excerpt]

WASHINGTON — Sen. David Vitter, R-La., apologized Monday night for "a very serious sin in my past" after his telephone number appeared among those associated with an escort service operated by the so-called "D.C. Madam."

Vitter's spokesman, Joel Digrado, confirmed the statement in an e-mail sent to The Associated Press.

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said in the statement. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there _ with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

DC Madam's Phone Records Returned

Photo from source (RawStory.com)
Oh, now this could get interesting. And this is probably not a partisan story so much as an "inside the beltway" story. There are likely politicians (and pundits?) of all stripes in that list. But considering the overpopulation of conservatives in DC over the last several years, I think it's safe to say that they're gonna take the bulk of the heat on this one. Stay tuned!

Judge lifts injunction on 'DC madam' phone records

Josh Catone
Published: Thursday July 5, 2007

A judge in the US district court in Washington, D.C. has lifted the temporary restraining order (TRO) preventing the so-called 'DC madam,' Deborah Jeane Palfrey, from selling or distributing the list of phone records from her escort business.

"The List in question is the Defendant's personal property," wrote judge Gladys Kessler, "and contains only a log of telephone numbers. It was neither seized by the Government when it searched the Defendant's residence in California, nor listed in the Indictment putting the Defendant on notice as to which items of her property were subject to forfeiture."
