Mitt Romney Rapidly Losing Facebook "Friends"

Images from source, Huffington Post
After running a blog for over five years, and its attendant Twitter and Facebook offshoots, I know how fickle readership could be. No offense to you, dear reader, but paying attention to the number of followers I have on each of these platforms can be very, very frustrating! People who use RSS readers are the most fickle, followed by Twitter followers. Both of those groups will dump me in a heartbeat.  My Facebook friends have been a very small group, but so far very loyal. They mostly click "like" and then stick around.

Mitt Romney isn't feeling the love. His Facebook page--not the campaign site, his regular one--is losing "friends" in real time. It's kind of fascinating to watch. Just go there, wait 15 seconds, and refresh. WHOOSH, there goes 15 friends! It's kind of sad, and I'm sure there's eventually going to be a floor to this. He's not gonna drop to zero. But won't it be fun to see how far it goes? Okay, so I'm not done with my schadenfreude. But I'm fascinated that people actually take the time to unfriend things. I've got stuff in my "likes" from my first day on Facebook.

Milestone: 100,000 Hits!

I'm jumping the gun only a little here, as my 100,000th reader will log in sometime in the next 12 hours or so. Actually, that is probably a little off. People access the internet in many ways, and the SiteMeter I use only counts them if they enter a certain way. RSS readers don't register, and I'm sure there are other methods that don't show up either. In fact, Google AdSense says I've had over 183,000 "page impressions." I didn't sign up for AdSense until sometime into my first year, and didn't put the SiteMeter up until month 4 or so.

But hey! That just means that at least 100,000 people have clicked in! Sure, I've been doing this for almost three years, so that is rather paltry by other bloggers' standards. But this is (with rare exceptions) a one-man show, done as a hobby with no promotion. So woo-hoo! Thanks for reading, and please bring your friends!

Milestone: 3,000 Posts! 30,000 Hits!

It's pat-myself-on-the-back time again! In the last 24 hours, I've hit two personal bests at Greenlee Gazette, and I just had to share. This is my 3,000th post here since June 2, 2007 when I started the blog. In addition, I have passed 30,000 individual hits to the blog.

Which made me feel great until I read a blog post about the surging political blogs this year, with hits in the multiple millions for the last six months! Oh well, I'm (almost) a one-man show, and I have a real job on the side, so I'll take it! Anyway, July is on track to be--by far--my best month, unless something drastically changes.

What I'd really like is to hear from you. I'd like to know why--for example--that my RSS readers (who are not counted in the hit total) fluctuates between 5 and 25 on any given day. Never more, never less, and sometimes losing or gaining 15 in one day. I'll have 23 at night, and suddenly have 6 the next morning. It's perplexing. So leave me a comment! What do you love? What do you hate?

Whatever you think, thank you for reading, and as always, bring your friends!
