Preacher Feature: The Gospel of "Bling?"

Photo from source, Raw Story

I don't know what's more surprising, that Jesus would want you to be a squillionaire, or the fact that this man has 1,000,000,000 viewers. That just can't be right. And wasn't Creflo Dollar in some deep doo-doo last we heard?

Televangelist spreads the 'Gospel of Bling,' lands himself in hot water

One of the country's most popular pastors is preaching a gospel controversial to many in the religious community. He says Jesus was not poor and he wants Christians to be wealthy, too. Call it the Gospel of Bling.

The man's name is Creflo Dollar, and according to ABC's Nightline, he "sits atop a religious empire." He has a church with a congregation of nearly 40,000 members and offices on six continents, he's published over 70 books, and his daily television show reaches a billion households worldwide. . .

Gay Panic: Preacher Wants to Infiltrate Microsoft

Photo from TTCA.org

What is it about the hyper-religious, that makes them want to insinuate their beliefs on everybody else's life? Microsoft has a reputation as a very progressive, gay-positive place to work. They provide many benefits to their gay employees' domestic partners. But, Rev. Ken Hutcherson thinks that's icky.

So, he's mounting an effort to get Christians to buy up Microsoft stock, while of course asking for them to "donate" some to him, in order to infiltrate the company. Presumably, if he's successful, he will then strip these people of their benefits. Isn't that loving? Isn't that what Jesus would do?

Good grief, Rev., stop being a busy-body. If you don't like the gay, stop offering yourself up as such a target for the bloggers who will dig, dig, dig until they find out something on you. . .
Oh, and I love the Jazz Hands.

Conservative pastor urges buying Microsoft stock to fight its gay rights efforts

A conservative Christian pastor plans to launch a high-profile campaign Tuesday urging religious followers to load up on Microsoft Corp. stock, in an attempt to force the company to "stop financing ungodly ventures. . ."

Jesus Christ on a Pancake!

Photo of source, Metro.co.uk

No, I'm not trying to blaspheme. As an agnostic that would be sort of silly. But no more silly than this story. Jesus and Mary have turned up on water towers, tortillas, parking lots, driveways, oil tanks, and most famously, a grilled cheese sandwich. Well, the divine duo is back.

Jesus! It's what's for breakfast! I'd like to say that while I can see figures in this pancake (or puffy clouds, or floor tile for that matter), it takes some imagination to assign identity to them. Why is it that whenever some amorphous blob looks kinda like a person, it has to be Jesus or Mary (or Elvis)? I mean, we know what Elvis looked like, but Jesus and Mary? We only know what famous painters and sculptors imagined them to look like. Just the same, see what you think.

Marilyn Smith, of Port St Lucie, Florida, decided to sell the pancake on eBay - after an earlier, cancelled sale in which the pancake reached £165 ($338), the current bid stands at $26.01. . .
