This is tremendously good news, if it is borne out. As I
posted previously, there have been efforts by the GOP (at least the "Swift-Boat" segment) to change California voting laws, to divide electoral votes by district. This would likely net the GOP 20 electoral votes in the 2008 election, that they probably wouldn't have otherwise gotten.
While I suppose the effort to do this is perfectly legal, the result would likely be chaos. If successful, there would probably be a flood of other states trying the same thing. To my way of thinking, the electoral college should stay as it is, or it should be eliminated entirely. To start a wave of changes that only effect part of the country would be at best confusing, and at worst disastrous. Just my opinion.

Days after a controversial organization began collecting voter signatures for a ballot measure to change California's winner-take-all presidential vote, a founder of the GOP-backed group says its major players are resigning - and the group will fold - due to lack of funding and support.
