I know that the blog has been a little top-heavy lately with videos, but this one is important.  There is an attempt, now that the Iraq War is (hopefully) effectively over, to spit-polish George W. Bush's legacy and image.  At these times, it is important to reiterate the actual history.

It's amazing how many things in politics are so obviously true, but continuously denied. Anyone could tell that the "Swift Boat" campaign against John Kerry in 2004 was trumped up. The fact that much of it came from FOX "News" was your first clue. Now, FOX has come clean, in a manner of speaking. Not intentionally, mind you, but there you go.

George W. Bush's Farewell Address

Finally. Finally! The Bush Era officially ends on January 20th, but tonight marked The Decider's final address to the nation. It is very likely the last speech we'll hear him give in a very long time. It was--as expected--a delusional polishing of his turd of a Presidency. But that's it. It's over. Now, if he'll only follow Richard M. Nixon's example, and slink off into obscurity for many, many years.

Keith Olbermann KOs Dick Cheney

Though the ability of the Bush administration to alter reality has grown progressively weaker, the "Bush Legacy Project" has been doing its damnedest to try. I've been a little worried since the whole "Bush Legacy Project" whipped into high gear. I mean, I know that Karl Rove's alternate reality machine is rusty, creaking, and missing crucial parts, but it's worked so well in the past, I was concerned that it might crank out one more doozy of a reality-warping "conventional wisdom."

Thank goodness for Frank Rich. He's keeping it real, for real. With Rich, and political bloggers (like, ahem, me) on the beat, maybe the "Bush Legacy" will be reality instead of fiction.

Karl Rove: You Don't Have to Worry About Your Rights

The only thing good about Karl Rove is that he is (allegedly) no longer affecting policy. Even better, in less than a month, even the "allegedly" will be removed. But Rove still has the ear of many a conservative (thanks to his regular appearances on FOX "News") and is spinning like mad to polish up the mess of a legacy left by the Bush Administration.

Rove's latest words of wisdom have to do with our rights, and the potential infringement upon them by the current administration. He's essentially saying "trust me," don't worry about it! Mmm hmm. I trust him about as far as three men could throw him.

Rush Limbaugh: "Democrat" Party Caused Economic Crisis

I suppose it is possible that Rush Limbaugh actually believes the crap he tries to sell to his listeners, but I kinda doubt it. Limbaugh is a lot of things, but I don't think he's unintelligent. Just disingenuous, and very, very willing to spin a story out of whole cloth if it makes his "side" look better.

And his task is huge right now. While George W. Bush has his "Bush Legacy Project" in full-swing, an attempt to spin his administration into something that doesn't suck, Limbaugh has got to do his part. So he's trying to place the blame for the current economic crisis on Democrats. Good luck with that, tubby.

Rachel Maddow Fights "Bush Legacy Project"

One of the many and varied missions of this blog is to attempt to shine a light of truth on the falsehoods and spin present in everyday "conventional wisdom." And one of the newest assaults on our present, past and future is the "Bush Legacy Project." It's an attempt by Karl Rove, Karen Hughes (and the usual cast of characters) to polish the turds that have dropped out of the Bush Administration.

They say that history is written by the victors. But in this case, history is written by the attentive. If we're not paying attention, they're going to change it. MSNBC's Rachel Maddow is doing her part to make sure that history remains history, and not some alternate Rovian reality. And I'll do all I can to help in the effort.

Karl Rove Names the People Who Are Against Bush!

I've already posted about the Karl Rove "Bush Legacy Project," which intends to polish the turd that is the Bush Administration. Rove--who many once thought was an evil genius--has turned out to be a pretty spectacular failure himself. But of course, he doesn't see it that way, and I suppose he thinks if he can rehabilitate (and reinvent) Bush's reputation, his will get better too. But can you polish a Turd Blossom?

Anyway, Rove has threatened that he is writing a book, wherein he will "name names" when it comes to people who don't think George W. Bush was a legitimate President. Wow that's some book! I wonder how long we'll have to read until we get to the Gs, so I can see my name? Here's a preview. . .

Gaahhh. Karl Rove. George W. Bush. A combination that does not lend itself to positive imagery or truth-telling. But Rove says he's writing a book that will challenge naysayers, and pump up Bush as a "far-sighted leader." Is that better than a near-sighted leader? I think myopic would be a better description. Can anybody really take anything said by Rove about Bush seriously?
