Vermont OKs Same-sex Marriage Over Governor's Veto

During the nearly two years writing this blog, I have revisited the issue of gay rights a number of times, but it has never been the focus of the blog, or its primary concern. Reading through my recent posts, you might not know that though! Gay rights issues--primarily legalized same-sex marriage--has been in the news in a big way, and it is difficult to ignore that, even if I wanted to.
See, I haven't written much about Barack Obama's economic plans, nor much about the opposition to them, chiefly because I don't know beans about the economy. Wall street has always mystified me. But same-sex marriage? Been there, done that, got the ring! Of course, mine was in the state of California, where voters apparently believe they have the right to decide for me whether or not I'm fit for marriage. There is still no word on whether or not my marriage to The Other Half will remain valid. Can you imagine such a thing, all you married people out there? That a court could nullify your marriage?
Today, Vermont joined Connecticut, Massachusetts and Iowa as a state that will allow same-sex couples to marry. Also, Washington D.C. has decided to recognize such marriages, joining the state of New York. Of course in those places, you have to already be married in one of the other four states (or in California, if you're grandfathered in). It would really be icing on the cake to have the California Supreme Court nullify Proposition 8 this week, wouldn't it?

Vermont Legalizing Same-sex Marriage?

Well, if the Supreme Court of California decides in its infinite wisdom to "annul" my marriage, at least we'll have another state to choose from, to legally renew our vows. Probably. It's not 100% official yet, but it looks like Vermont is on the fast-track to legalize same-sex marriage. Which is cool.
