White House Vows Not to Build a Death Star

The White House web page has an area for petitions, and they've pledged to publicly address any petition that meets a certain threshold. It's becoming ridiculous, as states petition to secede, people try to have Piers Morgan deported, and even try to have members of Congress tried for treason. It's getting to the point of absurdity. But it has produced this moment of awesome. And you know that the right wing won't believe that President Obama isn't working on a Death Star. . .

The Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn’t on the horizon. Here are a few reasons: The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We’re working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it. The Administration does not support blowing up planets. Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship? . . .
