Anthrax Case: FBI Stalked Ivans' Family?

I haven't said anything about the 2001 anthrax attacks, and the recent "resolution" of the case. It's a story that leaves me kind of slack-jawed, sort of like that Deborah Jeanne Palfrey "DC Madam" case, only this one had more dire consequences. Yes, both supposed anthrax guy, Bruce Ivans, and Palfrey conveniently committed suicide ("suicided" if you prefer), only in the anthrax case, other people died. In both cases, my Spidey-sense was tingling.

The anthrax attacks were the terrorist attacks after 9/11 that conservatives conveniently forget. And they languished forgotten for many, many years. Then, it all got wrapped up in a nice tidy package, with a dead guy as the prime suspect. You'll get no argument from him.

But, of course many (myself prime among them) think there is much more to this story. It's all very convenient and fishy. Read on, and see what you think.

Still No Closer to Finding Anthrax Terrorist

You know how many conservatives will say we haven't had a terrorist attack since 9/11? They use it as evidence that George W. Bush is "keeping us safe." But it isn't true. Right after 9/11, there were a series of lethal--and potentially lethal--anthrax attacks. Anthrax was sent to (Democratic) politicians, and prominent members of the media. And no one was ever busted for it. It has been seven years. Oh yeah, and that Bin Laden guy is still out there somewhere too.

So has The Decider kept us safe (at least since the anthrax), or have we just been very, very lucky?

Cheney Thought He'd Been Anthraxed?

The author of the book, The Dark Side, is saying that Dick Cheney is--ahem--the way he is because he thought he'd been lethally anthraxed in 2001. He wasn't, but I guess he got pretty wigged about it. Which begs the question, why then wasn't the perpetrator of the actual anthrax attacks ever apprehended? Why do administration officials still say that we haven't been attacked since September 11th, when we were?

Velmanette Montgomery, the Prisoners Rights Project of the Legal Aid Society in Albany and the Center for Law and Justice Inc. in Albany."
