Jon Stewart Rips Rumsfeld & Cheney on Torture

EDITOR'S NOTE: I'm playing with Raw Story's "post it legally" feature. Of course, as far as I know, I always post things legally. but I thought I'd give it a go. And since I didn't have anything to add to this one beyond, "You, go, Jon Stewart!," I thought this was a good enough post to try it on. I have a feeling I'm going to have to do some tweaking of this service in the future though.

Jon Stewart rips Rumsfeld and Cheney: ‘Look how f*cking proud’ they are to avoid discussing torture (via Raw Story )
Daily Show host Jon Stewart observed on Monday that, as the Senate moves closer to declassifying a report trashing the Central Intelligence Agency’s “enhanced interrogation” techniques, the political figures behind it — including former Vice…

Irony Alert: Rumsfeld Says Obama Hasn't Justified Syria Attack

Typical Rummy quote, this one on the location of WMDs: "We know
where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad
and east, west, south and north somewhat." Image from Raw Story.

I've already explained that I'm no expert on this Syria thing, and therefore will try to keep my opining to a minimum here on the blog. But you know who else should maybe take a step back? Donald freakin' Rumsfeld. Actually just about anybody from the Bush administration, but maybe especially Rummy. He's just proof that there is no sense of embarrassment on the right.

Rumsfeld: Obama hasn’t justified Syria attack

Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said Wednesday night that President Barack Obama had not done enough to justify an attack on Syria. “One thing that is very interesting, it seems to me, is that there really hasn’t been any indication from the administration as to what our national interest is with respect to this particular situation,” Rumsfeld told Fox Business Network host Neil Cavuto. . .

GQ: Rumsfeld's Creepy War Briefings to Bush

Image from source, AmericaBlog

Last night, I read in several locations that GQ Magazine (of all sources) was about to release a "bombshell" story, wherein Donald Rumsfeld's religion-laden war reports to George W. Bush would be revealed. The thing is, most Democrats can't have their feelings toward Bush, Rumsfeld, and the entire Bush Administration pushed any lower. And Republicans--by and large--seem to have an endless capacity for overlooking anything negative about the whole crew.

So while this story is just one more thing that proves we Democrats were right all along about this insufferable cabal, it probably will have very little effect in changing anybody's mind. After all, the evangelical GOP base will probably be thrilled by these revelations, right?

Rumsfeld sent Bush creepy Top Secret religious updates about the Iraq war

Frank Rich reported on this last night. GQ has copies of the documents (I show two of them above, GQ has lots more). I'm a Christian. This is creepy. They look like "end of days" propaganda created by a cult or the Unibomber. . .

Talking Rumsfeld Doll. Yes, It's for Real.

Photo from source, FireDogLake

I saw this posted on a few lefty web sites, and honestly thought it was just a joke. It's not.

What parent would buy this for their kid? I've got to think this product only exists for political junkies, and gag gifting. I mean, what the hell? By the way, the company that makes the doll also makes dolls featuring Elvis, Dr. Laura, Ann Coulter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and several others. Unbelievable.

[Excerpt]

It’s a 12-inch “Rummy” doll that looks vaguely like him and features bits of his historic news conferences that you can play just by pressing a little button on the back of his coat.

Yes, you can listen to 28 of former defense secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld’s greatest displays of impeccable logic:

– “What they do with themselves is up to them, and what the people around them do with them is up to the people around them.”

Donald Rumsfeld Quit Before the Election?

It's all in the timing, I guess. One has to wonder what effect it might have had, were this information public at the time. Would people think it was a good thing, and feel reassured about the Republicans? Would Democrats thought it a cheap ploy, and themselves been more energized? Hard to say. In any case, we were misled.

Rumsfeld resigned before election, letter shows

By Kristin Roberts

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Donald Rumsfeld, architect of the unpopular Iraq war, resigned as defense secretary before last year's November election but his decision was not announced until after the voting, according to his resignation letter obtained by Reuters on Wednesday.

The letter was dated November 6, the day before voters, angered by Iraq, went to the polls and swept President George W. Bush's Republicans from power in Congress. According to a stamp on the letter, Bush saw it on election day. . .
