John Gibson & FOX "News" Acknowledge Swift Boat Lies

Image from source, Raw Story

It's amazing how many things in politics are so obviously true, but continuously denied. Anyone could tell that the "Swift Boat" campaign against John Kerry in 2004 was trumped up. The fact that much of it came from FOX "News" was your first clue. Now, FOX has come clean, in a manner of speaking. Not intentionally, mind you, but there you go.

Fox host’s book title implies Swift Boat veterans were liars

Conservatives have long railed against media turning 'swiftboat' into pejorative or 'hate term.'

As former President George W. Bush attempts to salvage his tarnished legacy, Fox News Radio host John Gibson has eagerly joined in the effort to rehabilitate the previous administration's image. . .

John Gibson Out at FOX "News"?

Image from source, New York Times

Sheesh, what took them so long? I often tune to FOX "News" to see what the "other side" is up to, but even I can't tolerate John Gibson. And I can take Sean Hannity for God's sake! Well, for the comedic value, anyway. But John Gibson? Yikes. Anyway, I hope it's permanent, and that his fan isn't too upset.

‘America’s Election HQ’ Replaces ‘Big Story’ On Fox News

Fox News Channel is replacing its 5 p.m. news broadcast “The Big Story” with an election-themed program for the foreseeable future, marking the first time in eight years that the cable news channel has tinkered with its popular early evening line-up.

The network confirmed this week that “America’s Election HQ,” a program that displaced “The Big Story” temporarily last month, would continue indefinitely in the time period. The program’s co-hosts, Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly, also anchor the network’s mid-morning newscast and are seen as rising stars on the channel. The change was first reported by
the blog TVNewser. . .

Mark Levin Supports John Gibson's Ledger Comments

Photo from WBAP

Yesterday, many people were disgusted and appalled by the behavior of FOX "News" and Radio's John Gibson, for his comments and "jokes" two hours after the announcement of actor Heath Ledger's death. He's been rightly taken to task all over the blogosphere--on the left hemisphere, that is.

I'm steadfastly opposed to providing links to the right-wing commentary on the story, as they are unworthy of the revenue a click might generate. It will suffice to say that the same juvenile, sub-Jr. High level behavior that is on display whenever they discuss gay issues (any gay issue) has been on display now. Why? Because Heath Ledger once played a gay character in a movie.

I digress. Anyway, today I was running errands for work, and caught a bit of right-wing talker Mark Levin's show. He's part of the second-string of conservative talkers, but gets decent ratings, I guess. How, I have no idea. His voice is incredibly irritating, especially when he gets worked up. His voice is mosquito-like, similar to the warm-up eeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhh sounds that Jay Leno makes as he segues between jokes. Only Levin sounds like that all the time.

I know that sounds mean, but really--he's on radio, and he has an extremely annoying voice. It's similar to (and simultaneously completely different from) listening to former MSNBC host, Rita Cosby. It would be unpleasant if I agreed with him.

In the short time I listened, he featured author Jonah Goldberg, who was trying to say that all of the negative stereotypes held of conservatives are actually liberal traits. Riiiight. I also heard him interview Orrin Hatch, who was saying that telecom immunity is necessary because these companies were only doing their patriotic duty by doing what ever their government asked of them. Chilling.

And finally, Levin defended John Gibson's deplorable behavior regarding Heath Ledger's death. He said that Gibson was under fire from liberals. That he was a victim of "cheap shots." That he was a good guy, and then he supportively said, "Hang in there, Johnny." And he never mentioned what John Gibson had said that got him into trouble in the first place.

Sean Hannity calls this guy, "the great one." OK, I guess that tells you all you need to know!

John Gibson Jokes About Heath Ledger's Death

Photo from source, Think Progress

Fred Phelps isn't the only jerk when it comes to actor, Heath Ledger's death. FOX "News" host and radio personality, John Gibson ("Gibby" to his fan), weighed in too. And he seems to think it's funny. Yikes.

John Gibson Mocks ‘Weirdo’ Heath Ledger’s Death: ‘He Found Out How To Quit You’

Opening his radio show with funeral music yesterday, Fox News host John Gibson callously mocked the death of actor Heath Ledger, calling him a “weirdo” with a “serious drug problem.”

Playing an audio clip of the iconic quote, “
I wish I knew how to quit you” from Ledger’s gay romance movie Brokeback Mountain, Gibson disdainfully quipped, “Well, he found out how to quit you.” Laughing, Gibson then played another clip. . .

John Gibson: Racist?

Photo from source, Think Progress

John Gibson, or "Gibby" to his fan, is one of the more puzzling success stories on radio and on FOX "News". For me, he's unpleasant to look at and listen to. He's rabidly partisan (even on his "fair and balanced" TV job), acidically nasty toward people he has a beef with, and in general not a very nice guy. Oh, and he's apparently a racist.

John Gibson Celebrates Increase In ‘Anglo’ Birth Rate, Asks ‘Do You Still Think I’m A Racist?’

On his radio show yesterday, Gibson returned to the controversy, touting an Associated Press article about the “baby boomlet” in the U.S. in 2006 as vindication for his call that “the dominant, or largest, population sector, which is Caucasians” should “make more babies.” Declaring “I was right,” Gibson celebrated the increased birth rate of “non-Hispanic white women”. . .

The 12 Days of the War on Christmas (FOX "News")

The problem with The Twelve Days of Christmas is that by day 8 or 9, you're starting to tire of the song. But with each verse, getting to hear the creepiest of the FOX "News" hosts, John Gibson say "Weirdly neutered wishes come true tree" just cracked me up.

Once again let me state that I believe the whole "War on Christmas" is a load of garbage.

John Gibson Thinks Treason Worthy of a Medal

FOX "News" can be baffling sometimes. Most baffling would be the presence of John Gibson as the (now co-) host of The Big Story. For a channel that at least gives lip service to being "fair and balanced," they've got a rabid partisan hosting what is ostensibly a news show.

And here he is at his most egregious. He's rebooting his much derided "whoever outed Valerie Plame as a CIA agent should get a medal" load of crap. I'm continually amazed at what conservative pundits will excuse when it suits their purposes. Does anybody believe for a minute that this would be the reaction were it President Al Gore or John Kerry who'd been in office at the time? Please.
