Hillary Clinton, Interviewed by FOX "News"

I haven't watched yet, but I'll get to it, and maybe do an update with my response. Meanwhile, here you go.
 

Randi Rhodes Interviews Cher

Randi Rhodes--the liberal radio hostess, not the dead rock star--is an acquired taste. She has a brash style, outspoken liberal views (for which she has been offered more money to convert to conservative schtick), and a Brooklyn accent. I discovered her when looking for The O'Franken Factor (later The Al Franken Show) in 2004. I very quickly acquired the taste, and have followed her all over my (computer simulated) radio dial ever since.

Cher is more like a re-acquired taste. She's had so many career comebacks, she should have her own entry in the Guinness Book. Singer, actress, info-mercial queen and a helluva broad, her storied career is the envy of any starlet (or drag queen). She's won awards for everything, been in numerous hit movies, and had a hit song in each of six decades. Probably soon to be seven (UPDATE: If you count US Club Hits, she's already to seven decades of hits!).

The two teamed up for a radio interview on Randi's show, because Right-Wing World has come crashing down on Cher for tweeting her mind. A week or two ago. Yeah, I don't get it either. But as Randi says, if picking on Cher is a high point of your agenda? Yeah, you've got nothing. She's freakin' Cher!

Octuplets? This Is What We're All Talking About?

Every once in a while, a story catches the public's fancy that seems to spiral wayyy out of scale. We've had Natalee Halloway's mysterious disappearance. Anything to to with JonBenet Ramsey. Creepy guys named Petersen who have a penchant for killing their wives. All of these stories used to be local stories, but these days, they overtake actual news.

Currently, the big story is--no, not the economy--the lady who had octuplets after already having six little kids, all by in vitro fertilization. I'll admit, I was interested enough to post a short blurb about it when it happened, but I've stayed away since then. I make it a policy to only post stories that I personally find interesting, and this one? Eh, not so much. But it crossed into my interest threshold when it became more a story about the reaction to the story.

People apparently want to know all about it. And why not? They get to criticize the mother for having fourteen little kids with no house, no husband and no visible means of support. And she says she's in school too? Laudible, but when will she find the time? Mostly, what this story provides is the opportunity for people to rant and rave about something that doesn't really effect themselves. It's like abortion, or gay rights squabbles. It's very easy to sound off about them if you aren't in a position to have any decision made on the issue effect your life at all.

Anyway, while I find all of that interesting, the actual story leaves my typing fingers silent. So, here's a video from The Today Show to tell you all about it. Enjoy.

Charlie Gibson Interviews George W. Bush

It wasn't as momentous (or as laugh-out-loud hilarious) as the Sarah Palin interview, but ABC's Charlie Gibson interviewed (still) President George W. Bush. It's probably one of Bush's last significant interviews as sitting President, and to that I say, whew. I can barely tolerate The Decider when he says or does anything. The nonchalance, the air of cluelessness, the smarminess and inappopriate chuckles. The "coke"-jaw. Enough!

Sarah Palin's Second Major Interview: Katie Couric

No, I didn't watch the thing. And, no, I do not count Sean Hannity's infomercial as an interview. But it looks like I didn't miss much, based on this writeup. Sarah Palin is still answering questions like a beauty pageant contestant, meandering around, acting like she knows what she's talking about.

In her interview with Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) tonight, CBS’s Katie Couric noted that the governor has said, “John McCain will reform the way Wall Street does business.” “Can you give us any more examples of his leading the charge for more oversight?” Couric asked. Palin, however, refused to answer the question directly, instead going on about how McCain is seen as a “maverick.” When pressed further by Couric, Palin was unable to name any examples of McCain pushing for more regulation. . .
