MSNBC beats on Fox for its 'anti-aging fix' for McCain

MSNBC's Dan Abrams was all smiles on Thursday as he aired what he described as proof of Fox News going over the line in an attempt to make Republican presidential candidate John McCain look good.

"If you have any question whether Fox News is in the tank for McCain," exclaimed Abrams, "this should wipe any doubt from your mind. Fox is actually trying to make John McCain look younger."

Recently, when posting a video about things that are younger than John McCain, I pondered the issue of ageism, and whether making an issue of his age should be considered in bad taste. This entertaining site pondered that issue too (naturally), and has a fairly decent answer for it.

I’ve received a bunch of emails - and read a number of posts in the comments section - that questioned whether or not this blog is ageist. It’s a fair question and I wanted to take a minute to offer my answer.

It isn’t. Here’s why:

Before the blog launched, I thought long and hard to see if I could come up with reasons how gender or race could negatively impact on someone’s ability to do an effective job as President… and I couldn’t come up with a single one. But I was able to come up with reasons why age - at least, potentially - could be a factor. . .

Things That are Younger than John McCain

I know, I know, age jokes are kinda easy, and maybe even a cheap-shot. I know many people at or nearing John McCain's age, and they are no less vibrant or capable than some people half their age. But c'mon. . .there is some humor to be mined here.

And just imagine 46-year-old Barack Obama squaring off with 71-year-old John McCain on a stage. Remember that Obama is over 6 feet tall, and McCain is around 5' 6". Add in the slouchy posture of Grampy, and you have a stark contrast.
