GOP Clown Car Continues to Empty Out: Carly Fiorina & Chris Christie

Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina have bailed  out of the 2016 GOP Clown Car. We can only hope she landed on him, and not the other way around.

Carly was far too icy and prickly to ever gather any steam, as far as I'm concerned. For all of the "unlovableness" people try to heap on Hillary, Carly made her look like your favorite pie-baking, cuddly grandma. And Carly was the mean, brittle other grandma you'd cry when you'd have to visit, and you couldn't enter that one room, or sit on the furniture unless it was covered with plastic. Like her face (ha!).

Christie was probably in my short (very short) list of GOP candidates who wouldn't have freaked me out if he'd won. He's a bully. And probably corrupt. But he'd also get things done without pulling Jesus into everything. and without embarrassing the living crap out of America for the next four years. I'm a bit sorry to see him go.

I'm thrilled that Mittens can mark down Ohio as a win. After The Other Half's home state of Iowa voted for Rick (don't Google me) Santorum, I just couldn't bear my home state doing the same. Embarrassing. But Santorum came close enough for some minor bragging rights, and he did score a few other states on Super Tuesday. So this thing isn't over. And as long as Newton LeRoy stays in, the longer this thing lasts. Get your popcorn.

I was thinking of writing a post like the one excerpted below, and then John Aravosis goes and writes it better and more succinctly than I could. Wouldn't be nice if the press actually pointed out the obvious like this?

Big Names Withdraw from Primary

There's no doubt about it, this presidential primary season is bizarre. It started hugely early, with a large slate of candidates on both sides. We've been inundated with news of the horse race, with numerous debates, all with 8-10 lecterns.

As I've said before, I think all of this early activity stems from Bush Fatigue, an uncommonly bi-partisan affliction. This has led several states to push up their primary elections or caucuses, earlier and earlier in 2008. Unfortunately, in their jockeying for position, some states have broken party rules, and now they're being called on their bluff.

Thankfully, my state of Nevada moved theirs up before this all started to go nuts, so we're grandfathered in a way. Our early primary will allow Nevada to have a deciding vote in the primaries for the first time.
