Right Wing World Rep. Joe Wilson Thinks Syria Crisis is Obama-Invented Distraction

We already know that there is a very fuzzy line between Right Wing World: Media Edition and Right Wing World: Elected Officials, which is scary enough. But when the elected officials start believing the fake scandals from their own media, I get a little more scared.  Rep. Joe Wilson (R-YouLie!) seems to think the IRS non-scandal (now thoroughly debunked, and never successfully linked to Obama anyway), and the Benghazi attack (not a scandal by us, but an attack on us) were so overwhelming the Obama administration, that they cooked up the Syria problem as a distraction.

Idiot.

You heard me, I'll say it again: Idiot.

GOP Congressman Accuses Obama Of Using Syria To Distract From Benghazi, IRS

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) used Wednesday’s hearing on whether or not the United States will take military action in Syria to ask whether the whole debate was a ruse to cover-up the many “scandals” the Obama administration is facing. . .

Keith Olbermann's Special Comment on Stupidity!

I've been hammering on this topic on the blog for many weeks now, and it is great to see the issue getting some mainstream attention. On Sunday's Meet the Press, Thomas Friedman railed about the faux-controversy of President Obama's "stay in school" speech as "flat out stupid!" I practically jumped for joy, though I'd add an equal dollop of crazy.

The fact of the matter is, the mainstream Republican Party has let their crazy wing nut base set the agenda. Their fringe leaders like Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh are now at the top of the list. The actual leaders and elected officials are now heard to echo their crazy/stupid base, as we heard when Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) shouted "You lie!" at the President in the Congressional chamber last night.

Thank the FSM and his noodly goodness for Keith Olbermann taking up my pet issue in one of his greatest Special Comments ever. Enjoy.

Rep. Joe Wilson Apologizes for Outburst at Obama Speech

Image from source, MSNBC

Wow. That was faster than an apology for slighting Rush Limbaugh. Of course he didn't apologize for what he said, only for how he said it. So we've got to assume that Rep. Joe Wilson (R-South Carolina) still believes President Obama is a liar. I guess he wasn't embarrassed enough to take that part back.

The scene: Lawmaker apologizes for heckling

The nastiness of August's health care debate reached into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday as President Barack Obama tried to move his reform plan forward.

South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted, "You lie!" after Obama said that his plan would not cover illegal immigrants. . .

President Obama's Speech to Congress on Health Care Reform

What I saw of it was pretty good. I missed a chunk due to the news of the loss of a family member (story here), so I missed a large chunk in the middle. I did catch the very rude heckling by Congressman Joe "You Lie!" Wilson (R-South Carolina). Stay classy dude. Maybe he was trying to set himself apart from Valerie Plame-Wilson's husband? Or maybe he's just a douche-nozzle.

I'm not an expert on the whole health care debate, but I am flummoxed by the fact that so many on the right are against any sort of reform. It defies reason. To my way of thinking, anything that doesn't make things worse is a step in the right direction. Perhaps if there is no "public option" (arrgh, why can't Democrats use catchy names for things like Frank Luntz?), it could be grafted on later.

Anyway, here is the whole speech.
