Jim DeMint Resigns from Senate, To Head Right Wing "Think Tank"

It's nice to see that Jim DeMint is going to start thinking for a living, if indeed that's what they do at the Heritage Foundation. But it is further proof that there is no shame in Right Wing World. Karl Rove and Dick Morris (and so many others) got the election terribly wrong. Mitch McConnell and John Boner Boehner failed in their mission to make Barack Obama a one term President. And DeMint who vowed to take the President to his "Waterloo," and to "break him," also failed in his mission. None of those people will meekly exit the political stage. DeMint leaves the Senate, and goes to head up one of the most high-profile political operations that exists, and gets to collect a fat paycheck. Question: why?

North Carolina Passes Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment

Though the result in the North Carolina anti-gay marriage amendment is not a surprise, it still pisses me off.  As much that it was put on the ballot in the first place as that it passed. In a state where it was already impossible for same-sex couples to get married, an unnecessary--and unnecessarily mean-spirited--amendment was put on the ballot. Will it create jobs? Will it have positive economic impact? Will it help the old, the sick, the infirm or anybody else?

The answer is an emphatic no to all of the above. It was put on the ballot by busybodies who are confused about the difference between holy matrimony and civil marriage. They are confused about the separation of church and state. And they've embarrassed themselves now and in the history books. They've written discrimination into their state constitution. Shameful. Disgusting. Mean. Predictable.

North Carolina OKs constitutional same-sex marriage ban

North Carolina voters Tuesday approved a proposed amendment to the state’s constitution which would limit marriage to traditional one man-one woman marriages. The amendment says: “Marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State.” In effect, it would bar the state from giving legal recognition to civil unions between same-sex couples. . .

The right wing has made great strides since the Tea Party took over. Oh, we can't govern for shit, but they won governorships, Congressional seats, and all kinds of offices in 2010. But the rhetoric is starting to get a little too restrictive. A little too limited. I mean, Rick Santorum (and, unwittingly, Mitt Romney) are advocating getting rid of contraceptives. And now we've got this uber-Christian dude (kinda hot in his Mickey Mouse shirt) saying you can't masturbate because it's GAY! C'mon, dude? You can't have premarital sex, and you can't have one off the wrist? Really? Free entertainment, right out the window? Somebody buy this dude a Fleshlight.
