So, how long before someone floats the conspiracy that NOAA is faking the data to further the global warming hoax?

NOAA: 2012 Warmest Year On Record For U.S., Second Most Extreme Weather

It’s official: 2012 was the warmest year on record for the contiguous United States and the second most extreme in terms of weather events, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) annual “State of the Climate” report released Tuesday. . .

Democrats Cave on Surtax for Super Rich?

Harry and Chuck, you're letting us down.
Image from source, TPM
Why? This is an issue that is only defended by super-arch-conservatives. Taxing the super rich polls in the 80-percentile. Why on earth would the Democrats cave on that? Aaarrrrrgggggh. Harry, Harry, Harry. You know we're going to keep voting for you, because the alternative is so much worse. And I guess that's your reason, right there. I just don't understand how anybody is threatened by John Boner Boehner or Sen. Mitch Talking Turtle McConnell.

Dems Consider Dropping Demands As Republicans Risk A Shutdown

If it weren’t for the filibuster, Democrats would have the GOP neatly over a barrel. But Republicans believe they’ve regained the upper hand — and two developments suggest they’re right.
Senate Democrats are now considering dropping their demand that a payroll tax holiday for workers be offset by imposing a small surtax on millionaires, according to Democratic aides — resigning themselves to the fact that Republicans won’t lift their filibuster if the surtax stands. . .

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer Vetos Birther Bill

Jan Brewer, courting the elusive "non-crazy" GOP vote.
Image from TPM
How crazy is too crazy? Well, Jan Brewer--not a poster child for sanity--has deemed the birther bill a "bridge too far." Leave it to legislators in Arizona to pass a law that is so strict their own state can't meet it! Oh well, back to the ol' drawing board. Who has the next crazy idea?

Brewer Vetoes Birther Bill In Arizona

Gov. Jan Brewer (R-AZ), who has been a darling on the right for her battles with the Obama administration over illegal immigration, health care and other issues, has now taken a potentially bold step against the Tea Party base: She has vetoed a "birther bill" -- a piece of legislation motivated by conspiracy theories about President Obama place of birth, requiring candidates for public office to submit proof of U.S. citizenship to the state Secretary of State before they could appear on the state's ballot. . .

Did Christine O'Donnell Lie About Attending Oxford?

Image from source, TPM
No way! You mean in addition to all the crazy stuff she's said in the past (and present), she's also manufactured some of her biography? Shocking.  I'm sure she'll just come up with something cute to say about it, and all will be forgiven in Teabaggistan. Remember Sarah Palin writing on her hand?  She turned it into a virtue. Expect Palin's mini-me to do the same.

Christine O'Donnell Lies About Attending Oxford University

Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell (R-DE) proclaimed on her LinkedIn the University of Oxford under "education," but it turns out that's another exaggeration on her resume. The claim is that O'Donnell earned a certificate from an Oxford course which her campaign said is "overseen" by a summer seminar program called the Phoenix Institute. . .

Norm Coleman Withholds Evidence?

Image from Talking Points Memo

Can we just end this thing already? Al Franken won, Norm Coleman is cheating. . . FIX IT!

[Excerpt]

BUSTED ... Again!

Just when the election court in Minnesota had given Norm Coleman's legal team a break by reversing itself on a decision to strike a witness' testimony because Norm's lawyers withheld evidence from the Franken team, it turns out there's more evidence related to Coleman's lawyers' contact with this same witness that they still hadn't divulged until Franken's lawyer brought it out this morning on cross examination of the witness. . .

McCain's Anti-Obama Plan Becoming Clear

Photo from Sahbasucks

John McCain's plan to fight a potential Barack Obama campaign seems to be firming up. It looks like he plans to let surrogates like talk radio to take the low road, while he takes the high road. Do not be shocked to see a steady stream of negative and false information coming fast and furious, while McCain seems serenely above it all.

[Excerpt]

Road Map

Hopefully, everyone can now see the McCain strategy for running against Barack Obama. Yes, we have some general points on taxes, culture wars and McCain as war hero who can protect us in ways that flash-in-the-pan pretty boy Barack Obama can't.

But that's not the core. The core is to drill a handful of key adjectives into the public mind about Barack Obama: Muslim, anti-American, BLACK, terrorist, Arab. Maybe a little hustler and shifty thrown in, but we'll have to see. The details and specific arguments are sort of beside the point. They're like the libretto in a Wagner opera, nice for some narrative structure. But it's the score that's the real essence of it, the point of the whole exercise. . .
