Right Wing World: Victoria Jackson to Run for Office!

Not too long ago, Martin Bashir got into trouble for calling Sarah Palin (among other things), a village idiot. Well, as dumb as she is, Palin would have to be lobotomized and given a hallucinogen before she'd be the creature that is Victoria Jackson. Jackson not only played a dumb blonde on Saturday Night Live, she happens to be one in real life. So, naturally, she's gotten into politics! Jackson's political philosophy is basically to take the absolute nuttiest and most extreme parts of the Tea Party, married them with even further-out-there conspiracy theories, with a twist of racism and homophobia. Oh, and she sings too!

She was entertaining as part of one of SNL's heyday casts, which included Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Nora Dunn, Jan Hooks, Jon Lovitz and Dennis Miller. Miller also has taken a hard-right turn in his later years, but at least he is intelligent, and (occasionally, kind of) funny. Vicki is a total mess. But here's hoping her one-time celebrity shines a spotlight onto her sure-to-be-hilarious campaign. Unintentionally hilarious, of course.

The Tea Party’s Dream Candidate Files For Tennessee Election

That’s right, former Saturday Night Live ukelele strummer, Victoria Jackson, has declared her candidacy for a seat as a county commissioner in Williamson County, Tennessee. As a commissioner Jackson can be expected to bring her unique “knowledge” of economics, urban planning, law enforcement, business development, and government administration to Williamson’s county hall. Plus, she can recite poetry while standing on her head. . .

Fun Republican Freak-outs, Take 1: Victoria Jackson

I watched my Twitter feed as much as I could on election night, without being rude to my guests. But I did find that when I'd read something like that pictured here, my guests weren't as amused as I was. I guess I'm just a fan of schadenfreude.

Buck up, cupcake. Without Obama to rag on, you'd have no career, instead of . . . what is it you do again these days?

Julie Brown as Victoria Jackson: Don't Vote for Obama!

It must be difficult to parody a person who is already a self-parody. But leave it to Julie Brown--who has actually employed Victoria Jackson in the past on her show, Strip Mall--to send up what we can only hope is a send up itself. If you've never seen one of Vicky's real political songs, trust me that it's not worth looking up. It will eat your brain. . .

FOX & Friends Finds Someone Dumber Than Them: Victoria Jackson

Apparently, when the classic 1986-1992 cast of Saturday Night Live disbanded, Dana Carvey, Jan Hooks, Nora Dunn, Jon Lovitz and Phil Hartman (RIP) went on to interesting careers, while Dennis Miller and Victoria Jackson went bananas. Well, conservative, which these days is the same thing. At least Miller is plugged in and informed, even if he's desperately unfunny. Victoria Jackson inspires laughter of a sort: nervous laughter. She's seemingly unbalanced, clearly "educated" by FOX "News" and FreeRepublic.com. And she's seemingly still playing an SNL character, twenty years (and fifty pounds) later.

Victoria Jackson's PolitiChicks Show

Image from Reddit
Oh, mercy. No. You would think that certain fringe political figures would just embarrass themselves into oblivion. But it is not to be. There are several, like Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, who are running for president. There is Dennis Miller, who jumped on the conservative bandwagon during the Bush Administration, and painted himself into a very small corner. Then there are the uncategorizable, like Samuel (Joe the Plumber) Wurtzelbacher, who is unbelievably running for Senate. And even lower down the ladder, Miller's former Saturday Night Live cast mate, Victoria Jackson.

Jackson's political acumen amounts to regurgitating the words of Rush Limbaugh and his imitators, along with FOX "News" and FreeRepublic.com. And then, throw in a heaping helping of religious fervor. Jackson's knowledge doesn't run deep, and her arguments don't tend to be logical. And, when delivered in that Betty Boop voice from a middle-aged, corpulent woman's body, it just isn't cute anymore. I worry about what audience would find her entertaining. But then, I worry about the followers of the GOP presidential field too.

Victoria Jackson's 'PolitiChicks': Former 'SNL' Star Launches Anti-Gay, Anti-Muslim Web Show

Victoria Jackson has never been one to mince words, having stirred controversy for sounding off on both Occupy Wall Street and the portrayal of gay characters on "Glee" this year. . .

Victoria Jacson the Tea Party's Al Franken?

Image from source
Please. Senator Al Franken (D-Minn.) has taken a lot of crap from conservatives, most undeserved or uninformed. My personal belief is that Franken's open rivalry with Bill O'Reilly is at the root of conservative hatred for the Senator, even if they don't realize that genesis. It just started the ball rolling. But whatever you think of Franken, a comparison of him to Victoria Jackson is just ludicrous. They were both on Saturday Night Live. It ends there.  Franken graduated with honors from Harvard. Jackson went to the school of Glenn Beck. 'Nuff said.

‘SNL’ Alum Victoria Jackson, The Tea Party’s Answer to Al Franken

This weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) provides right wing leaders like Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich and Tim Pawlenty an opportunity to flex their ideological muscle ahead of potential 2012 presidential campaigns, but the event’s not all lectures and politicking. There’s also entertainment, including a performance from ‘Saturday Night Live’ alum Victoria Jackson, who may very well be the Tea Party‘s answer to Sen. Al Franken. . .

Victoria Jackson: There's a Communist Living in the White House

Saturday Night Live has been on the air for 35 years, and has had its ups and downs. Right now--even though it shows glimmers of greatness--it's in a down mode. But it has had several "heydays," each not quite as good as our nostalgia paints them. There was the "Not Ready For Prime Time Players" era, the Eddie Murphy era, and then SNL's third great age. That would be the stretch of years beginning in 1986, when Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Nora Dunn, Jan Hooks, Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller and Victoria Jackson reigned.

The last two on that list were very funny, if a little limited in range on the show. Miller was mostly the snarky news guy, and Jackson the "dumb blonde." And both of them have now taken their personas into the political realm, with a pronounced rightward tilt. Now, political humor can be funny. But in my experience, comedy that starts out with a deliberate right wing intent tends to fall flat. Witness basically anything Miller has done since 2001. Or this dreadful attempt at political humor by the once adorable, now batshit crazy Victoria Jackson.

The Young Turks on SNL's Victoria Jackson

Wow. Who knew the wacky bimbo from Saturday Night Live's late 80s heyday was a conservobot? I didn't. But it's certainly fitting that she's on conservobot Sean Hannity's ridiculous FOX "News" show.
