War on Christmas: Sarah Palin Babylon (And On, And On)

GOD, this woman is an idiot. Five years from relevance, she continues to babble on about artificial scandals and controversies, from death panels (which don't exist), to ACORN (which doesn't exist anymore) to the "War on Christmas," which only exists in Right Wing World, Palin just keeps squawking. Comedienne Stephanie Miller says that it's like a Scrabble game exploded in her head. I think it's more like she's barfing up a special Republican edition of Magnetic Poetry, the refrigerator magnet word set. Freedom! Tyranny! Liberty! Maverick! You betcha!

Magnetic Poetry: The secret behind Sarah Palin's word salad?
Palin links ‘zealot-like’ atheists to the ‘war on Christmas’ and ‘slavery’ from federal debt

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called on a group of conservatives to act over the weekend because she said atheists, secularists and other liberals had launched a “war on Christmas” and were pushing the country into “slavery” by borrowing from China. During a Saturday speech to promote her book “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas” at the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition’s fall fundraiser, Palin observed that “everywhere it seems that we see that faith, religious freedom is under attack… and it’s censored. . .”

Noted Lunatic Louie Gohmert Defends the Term "Lunatic"

I honestly can't top that with anything else I might say.

[Excerpt]

Rep. Louie Gohmert defends use of the word ‘lunatic’

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) on Wednesday defended his vote against removing the term “lunatic” from all federal laws by insisting the word could be applied to Congress. . .

Fun Republican Freak-outs, Take 1: Victoria Jackson

I watched my Twitter feed as much as I could on election night, without being rude to my guests. But I did find that when I'd read something like that pictured here, my guests weren't as amused as I was. I guess I'm just a fan of schadenfreude.

Buck up, cupcake. Without Obama to rag on, you'd have no career, instead of . . . what is it you do again these days?

Donald Trump's HUGE Announcement Flops

Image found at KultureKritic
Donald Trump would get no attention from me, were it not for the fact that his fumbles and foibles cast a shadow on the Republican Party, and afford me a bit of schadenfreude. The man is nothing short of a buffoon, but he enjoys a place in the pantheon of "Conservative Superstars." That illustrious group includes nobodies like Samuel "Joe the Plumber" Wurtzelbacher, pundits like Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin, and quasi-politicos like Sarah Palin. None of these people is worthy of adulation, but they get it anyway.

The one thing the Conservative Superstars live for is to get their name in the news cycle. Palin just did it, by using the racist term "shuck and jive" when referring to President Obama. Coulter did it by calling him a "retard." But that's small potatoes to Trump. Trump makes news. Trump announces in advance that he's going to make an announcement! Trump stirs up anticipation in Right Wing World, getting them to salivate, and twitch with anticipation! When Trump postponed his announcement for 15 minutes from the earlier noon, I thought Right Wing World would just lose it!

Then, when they were right on the edge--almost there, you might say--Trump dumped a buzzkill. A lame ass, barely veiled racist challenge to President Obama. No secret. No scandal. A ridiculous call for school records. Pfffft! This pompous windbag has finally deflated.

Donald Trump’s ‘Major’ News Now Twitter Laughingstock

Donald Trump today pledged $5 million to a charity of President Obama’s choice, provided the president makes public his college applications and transcripts and releases his passport history, a far cry from the October-surprise bombshell Trump had promised. . .

Sean Hannity is a Moron (Again)

Calling Sean Hannity a moron is like calling dust dirty. It's sort of a given. But this man has the second most popular radio show in the country. He also has the second most popular show on FOX "News" (and of all cable news, if you consider that station news). He's got a following, and yet he's a moron. I really don't know why. His latest brain fart is that there are no hungry people in America. Or if there are, beans and rice are cheap. Or something. He's a moron.

Sarah Palin Coins New Word: "Refudiate"

When I first heard Sarah Palin say the non-word "refudiate" last week, I didn't pounce. I figured it was just a slip of the tongue, and we all have those. Even if Mrs. Palin has more of those than most people. But when you both say and spell a word incorrectly, you clearly do not know the proper word. This in and of itself is really no big deal. But on a slow news weekend (which I've spent almost entirely reading Stephen King's Under the Dome) it'll do.  And it gives me a chance to say. . .

Palin's Bigoted Twitter Calls on Muslims to "Refudiate"

Echoing the bigoted and right-wing contortions of the National Republican Trust PAC and disgraced Tea Party leader Mark Williams, Sarah Palin has sent the world of Twitter on fire this afternoon, with a series of Tweets about the proposed Islamic cultural center and mosque two blocks from the site of the World Trade Center. . .

Sarah Palin: Rachel Maddow Played "Gotcha" With Rand Paul?

Image from source, HuffPost

If there isn't already a short YouTube clip of Keith Olbermann saying "That woman. . .is an idiot," there certainly should be. It could be the simple summation to virtually anything Sarah Palin has to say about anything. Given an inexplicable forum to pontificate in her mangled Alaskish, she just spews forth a series of words, and we're supposed to take her opinions--such as they are--as though they come from some sort of authority. They do not. Her political opinions have no more gravitas than those uttered by second and third-tier local talk show hosts, or bloggers like me.

This time, Palin is trying to haul Rand Paul's butt out of the fire by claiming the whole controversy--over his views on the Civil Rights Act--was Rachel Maddow's fault. Newsflash, Sarah, but Paul made those statements on NPR, and Rachel was merely following up. It was Paul who could not answer the question directly, magnifying his out-of-the-mainstream position.

Palin: Maddow Was 'Prejudiced' In Her Rand Paul Interview

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin accused MSNBC's Rachel Maddow on Sunday of conducting a "prejudiced" interview with Rand Paul, in which the Tea Party candidate infamously aired skepticism about the reach of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. . .

UPDATE: I couldn't find a Keith Olbermann "that woman is an idiot" clip, so I made one from a longer video. Wow, didn't know I could do that (it's my first try, so be gentle).

George Bush Wants to Wave His Wand Around

Hee heee, I just couldn't resist. Yes, The Decider has hauled out his famous "magic wand" phrase again, this time about gas prices.

[Excerpt]

Bush’s ‘magic wand’ and its legacy of low expectations.

In his press conference yesterday, a reporter asked President Bush about the rising price of gasoline, now at roughly $3.60 per gallon. In response, Bush was helpless, repeatedly saying he wishes he could just “wave a magic wand” to lower prices. . .

Bushisms: Make the Pie Higher!

I get a lot of emails from "concerned" friends and family, seeking to expose the Muslim-ness of Barack Obama, or what stupid thing Hillary Clinton said or did. You probably get 'em too. With the help of Snopes.com, I've debunked a lot of those (to the consternation of the sender), even here on the blog.

So imagine my delight with finding an "urban legend" type email to be true! Nearly 100% verifiably true--far closer, at least than any of the other ones I've seen. It's an moldy oldie, but it's also a goody. Remember, this was written in 2002, when George W. Bush's public persona was far newer--and a great deal more popular. Someone got the idea to assemble a batch of Bushisms into a poem, each line being an actual utterance--with only slight alteration--from The Decider his self [sic, intentionally]. Check it out (click to enlarge).

Bush Bashing = Big Bucks!

Image from source, AOL Small Business

This story concerns the "Bush Bashing" industry, people profiting off the sale of "Buck Fush" and "W-TF?" merchandise, and it poses the question, "what will they do when he's gone?" Party like it's frickin' 1999, and none if this crap ever happened, that's what. And then they--and I--will put our energies elsewhere. There's always the chance that the next President will be Grampy McCain, right, my friends?

The Hate-Bush Economy

The practice of mocking U.S. political leaders is as old as George Washington's wooden teeth. But George W. Bush's slide in popularity has taken president bashing to new highs (or lows, depending on your point of view), driving a cottage industry of anti-Dubya T-shirts, bumper stickers, and even dog biscuits. . .
