Why is Newt Gingrich Called Out as a "Scam Artist" Only by Rachel Maddow?

Newt Gingrich has made a lot of money in his political career. Initially, he did it as an actual politician. Since then (after leaving office in disgrace), he's been a lobbyist "historian," an author of political books, a FOX "News" employee and the face of several related organizations that made money by scamming people. Lots of people. For lots of money. So, why is it that the only prominent member of the media who will say so is Rachel Maddow? Granted, Rachel's take on the issue is very entertaining to watch, and difficult to top.

I was going to write about this, last time Rachel spoke on the issue, and I forgot. Now, I don't have to! The article excerpted below did a nice enough job. Before that, though, is one of Rachel's early Newt takedowns.There have been many since, but this one is comprehensive.

Why Do Other Pundits Skip Maddow's Reporting on Newt's Alleged Scams?

Maddow first pointed out how Gingrich - apparently mistakenly - chose a strip club as the recipient of one of his scammy awards. The catch, of course, is that in order to pick up their award, recipients needed to fork over $5,000.00 to Gingrich's organization. The award got more attention than Gingrich probably wanted, when the strip club owner - seeing the humor in the situation - gladly accepted the award, anxious to show off the signed gavel owed her. Maddow reported that Gingrich rescinded the award and the dinner invitation that went with it, when he realized the nature of the business involved. Unfortunately, that didn't stop Gingrich's organization from trying to scam the same business later on. (In the end, the gavel was passed on to Maddow as a souvenir.). . .
