Mitt Romney to Announce VP Pick on Saturday?

The Budget Munster? Really? Image from Politico.
The only advantage I see to Mitt Romney announcing his pick on a Saturday is that it will instantly be the #1 topic on all the Sunday political shows. And sure, it'll rule the early part of the week's news cycle. But you know what else it does? Gives opposition research time to happen in full-force by Monday, when ordinary (read: not that interested in politics) people finally notice. Obviously, I don't know all the angles, but I just question the timing a bit.

And they're saying it might be Paul Ryan? Really? So, for weeks, "insiders" have been saying that Romney's going to go safe and boring. No "Palin" this time, they all said. Well, if it's Ryan, they've got their Palin. Oh, he's not stupid and inarticulate, but he's extremely polarizing. His "Ryan Budget" doesn't hold water, except in Right-Wing World. The only advantage I can see is that he's got a rockin' bod. Is that what Republicans are going for these days?

'All signs point to Ryan' with Romney to name VP pick today

Mitt Romney will announce his vice presidential pick tomorrow morning in Norfolk, Va. and there are strong signs that he’ll tap 42-year-old House Budget Chair Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to be his running mate.
A source deeply involved in the vetting process said “the obvious clue is in the Romney press release” — alluding to Romney’s event taking place at the USS Wisconsin. . .

Portia De Rossi to be New Lily Munster

Portia and Yvonne, from D-Listed
When it comes to my nostalgia TV, I'm a Bewitched over Jeannie guy. I'm a Star Trek over Lost in Space guy. I'm a Brady Bunch over Partridge Family guy.  I'm a Mary Ann over Ginger guy (oh, who am I kidding, I liked the Professor!). And when it comes to the macabre monster-themed shows, I always liked The Addams Family over The Munsters. Personal preference.

But The Munsters had a lot going for it, not the least of which was the casting. Yvonne De Carlo and Fred Gwynne as Lily and Herman. And if The Munsters has to be re-done again (as all of the above have been, again and again), they could do a helluva lot worse than Jerry O'Connell (sure to be the hottest Frankenstein's monster since Andy Worhol's) and Portia De Rossi. And look she's even got that "De" in the middle there, even if she uses "DeGeneres!" After adoring Portia in both Arrested Development and Better Off Ted, I'm actually looking forward to it!

Portia De Rossi Is The New Lily Munster

. . . Deadline says that Portia got the role after ABC Studios refused to let Lorena from True Blood out of her contract with that
Devious Maids mess, which might be headed for Lifetime. Yeah, so Lorena from True Blood is totally farting in somebody's coffee mug today. Portia will put on a luscious skunk wig to play Lily alongside Jerry O'Connell as Herman, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa Munster, Charity Wakefield as Marilyn and Mason Cook as Eddie. . .

Paul Ryan Not Running for President

"For the last time, I'm not Eddie Munster!"
I'm sure everyone is devastated at the news.
