Comey Comedian (Rocky Mountain Mike Parody-Palooza #1)

First up, we go very topical with Mike's take on the FBI/James Comey/Clinton Clusterf*ck. Based, naturally, on Culture Club's Karma Chameleon

EDITOR'S NOTE: I've been neglecting the blog a lot lately, and as such, I've also neglected to post a bunch of very funny, election-related song parodies by Rocky Mountain Mike. Not that the guy made famous on The Stephanie Miller Show needs my help, or is even affiliated with this blog. I'm just a fan who loves to share! So, please enjoy this and several other parodies.

For more Rocky Mountain Mike, go here. And buy his album, Politically Incoherent on Amazon!

Scariest E-Mail EVER: Karl Rove is Following Me!

When it comes to political figures that I loathe, despise or otherwise have a deep disregard for, there are frankly a lot to choose from. From Sarah Palin to George W. Bush to the odious Dick Cheney, there is ample evidence on this here blog thingy that the hall of shame is vast. But if I had to narrow my rogues gallery down to a top five, even a top two, Karl Rove would find himself there. So imagine my surprise when I found this in my email box:

Now, I don't really tweet very much, so this isn't all that concerning. Twitter for me amounts to an amusing distraction that I haven't really found tremendous use for. So, why is Turd Blossom following my tweets? The answer can probably be found in the three feeds we both follow: RightPride, the paradoxical gay Republican group (to keep tabs on them), NewsBusters (ditto) and Harry Shearer. The last shows that Rove has a bit more taste than I'd have given him credit for.  Anyway, it doesn't really bother me that Rove is following me. . .as long as he isn't literally following me.

Shepard Smith Spooked by FOX "News" E-Mails

I caught a few nearly real-time posts at FreeRepublic as Shepard Smith was doing this report. They were calling for him to be fired. If you're wondering if Smith's fears are overblown here, they're not.

My Baby Only Cares for Me (But Might Shoot Me!)

Have you ever been to a psychic? It's amazing how they can read you, isn't it? If you're a skeptic like me, you start looking for their tricks. Like answers that are general, or could apply to anybody. But sometimes it's spooky, and they just nail something--something they couldn't possibly know! And I've been drawn in because of this in the past (the distant past, but still).

But this little email/blogging game will show you that any random question and/or answer can get it right too. This game's rules are as follows:

- Read the question.
- Get out your media player (iPod, computer, CD-Jukebox, whatever), and set it to random.
- Press play.
- Type the name of the song as the answer to the question.
- Repeat.

As you can see, in my list, some of the answers are nonsense. Some can fit with some context (just like when you try to fit the psychic's answer to your circumstance). And sometimes the answers are dead on! I mean, come on, the Cher answer?!?

White House Illegally Deleted Records; Must Disclose Visitor Logs

Image from source, ABC News

Yes! Now, maybe we can find out who Jeff Gannon was visiting? OK, there are other important things in there, but that's the one that interests this blogger!

[Excerpt]

A federal judge on Friday rejected the Bush administration's latest attempt to keep secret the identities of White House visitors and declared that the government illegally deleted Secret Service computer records. . .

Behind the Blogger, Pt. 12: Top 40 2008 Happenings

You ever get one of those email surveys that you're supposed to pass on? Mostly, they just annoy others when you send them along, but hey, I've got a blog, and I can just do it here without annoying anyone! And I haven't run a Behind the Blogger post in a long time, so why not now? So, here we go. . .

1. What did you do in 2008 that you’d never done before?
I married The Other Half, in Palm Springs, California. Validity pending. . .
2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I never seem to remember them the next year. This time it is to continue losing weight until I fit in 31" Levis. I'll do it!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes. The Other Half's father, a friend's mom, a friend-of-a-friend's sister, and several friend's pets.
5. What places did you visit?
Columbus, Ohio and several towns and hamlets in Iowa.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A full work schedule, instead of reduced hours. Possibly a new car by the end of the year.
7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
June 27, my wedding day.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?Again, my marriage.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I made it all the way up to 180 pounds. I'm on the road to recovery, though!
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Broke a toe. That's about it.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A great "tiki" table that fits perfectly in a nook in the living room, and opens up into a dining room table. We don't have an official dining room.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My friends, Mr. & Mrs Stupid Monkey Planet, who responded to reduced work hours by starting their own business. Which is why the Mr. has no time to post here anymore!
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The entire Bush Administration; California voters who potentially annulled my marriage.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills. Some gambling (hey, this is Las Vegas). A few toys and treats.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Barack Obama's election.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
That stupid "Bleeding Love" song, that sounds like a disturbed girl who cuts herself because nobody understands her.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
a) happier; b) thinner; c) richer (for now!)
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Sex. It's true what they say about marriage! :)
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Obsessing about politics.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
With friends and The Other Half.

That happened 11 years ago.
22. How many one-night stands?

I don't think I hate anybody.

A 19" HDTV for my office. Oh, and a husband!
28. What did you want and not get this past year?
A new car.
29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Iron Man.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I don't think I did much of anything, really. I turned 42.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
The comeuppance and imprisonment of the entire Bush Administration.
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Basic and unlikely to look stupid and dated later. Jeans, and simple, basic shirts.
34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Jon Stewart and Bill Maher.
35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Same-sex marriage and Proposition 8 in California
36. Who did you miss?
My family, especially my sister and her family. My friend Keith in Texas, who I used to be so close to. And those we've lost.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
Wow, I should get out more. Can't think of a new person!
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
I'm surrounded by fantastic friends and family, who care about me. And despite my tendency to hole up and be "left alone," I should try to connect more.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year?
"I am what I am, and what I am needs no excuses."
40. Favorite accessory of 2008?
The Other Half!

More Bush Emails Go Missing?

Image from source, Raw Story

How many times have you heard a conservative--be it a bloviator like Rush Limbaugh, or your uncle Earl--rant about "the rule of law?" It was a mantra when Bill Clinton lied about a certain little indiscretion. 'Member that? Heh.

Well, after eight years of the Bush Administration flouting the rule of law--in fact, acting as though the law simply didn't apply to them--that rallying cry ought to be over. Case in point, the lost/deleted/never retained White House emails. Apparently, no effort was made to follow any of the laws as it pertains to retaining electronic communications by the White House. It is going to be enormously frustrating to hear them nattering about every perceived Obama Administration transgression, isn't it?

[Excerpt]

National Archives unsure how many White House emails will be saved

The plans to retain and store records from George W. Bush's eight years in office is lacking in specifics and raises the serious possibility that millions of missing White House e-mails will be lost permanently, a independent government watchdog warned Monday. . .

The Politics of Distraction

Well, what do you know? Even up here on a mountain top, I've found the internet! Sure, I'm glomming on to somebody's unsecured wi-fi connection, but if he didn't want me to use it, he'd have a secured network, wouldn't he? Still, I'll probably have very little time to blog, but I thought I'd try to sneak a post or two in. This post is really not my own, but one I found at AmericaBlog this morning. I'm assuming that since it isn't an original creation, that they won't mind me posting the whole piece.

It is a copy of a viral email that's going around, and no that doesn't have anything to do with viruses, Mom. It's akin to (but sort of the opposite of) all of those nasty anti-Obama emails that have been floating around. This one merely asks questions, and I'd like to know the answers myself. . .

Viral Emails

I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....

* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different."
* Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American story.

* If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
* Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

* Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.
* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.
* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.

* If you teach teach children about sexual predators, you are irresponsible and eroding the fiber of society.
* If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.

* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America 's.
* If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that hates America and advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

OK, much clearer
now.

That Stupid Obama Email Hoax

Photo from BarackObama.com

There's an email floating around the internets lately, giving dire warnings about Presidential candidate, Barack Obama. The letter alleges that either a) Barack Obama is a "Trojan horse" Muslim in Christian clothing, ready to usurp our "Christian Nation" to evil Muslim ends; or b) Barack Obama used to be a Muslim, and since he isn't anymore, all the Muslims from all the world will be ordered to kill him. The contradictory elements of the "warning" should be a tip-off to the hoaxy nature of the email.

Now that we're about 15 years into the Internet era, I didn't believe rational, intelligent Americans still believed any of these silly email chain letters. But this one is getting traction, and I just don't understand it. Doesn't anybody besides me check with Snopes.com?

If you got this letter and believed it, or if anyone you know has, send them the link to this page at Snopes.

[Excerpt from phony email]

If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all your contacts. . .this is very scary to think of what lies ahead of us here in our own United States. . .better heed this and pray about it and share it.

Who is Barack Obama?

Probable U.S. presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawai, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from Wichita, Kansas. Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii. . .

[Excerpt from Snopes.com]

Claim: Illinois Senator Barack Obama is a "radical Muslim" who "will not recite the Pledge of Allegiance."

Status: False.
