Dick Cheney Takes a Human Heart, Makes it His Own

Darth Dick Cheney. From CBSNews.

Oh, come on. Did you expect I'd be reverent on this one? Dick Cheney--otherwise known as Darth Cheney, even to some of his fans, had a heart transplant. This, after at least 5 heart attacks, a quadruple bypass, and--since 2010--a machine that pumped his blood for him. He hasn't had a heartbeat since 2010! Well, until now. Now, he finally has a heart. Here's hoping he puts it to good use.

Dick Cheney Has No Pulse

Given Dick Cheney's decades-long heart problems, and his reputation as Darth Cheney, there has long been a lot of dark humor about his health. You know, he'd have a heart attack, and people would say, "impossible, he has no heart." Or robot/android/replicant/cyborg jokes.  But this time it isn't a joke. The former vice president has a new pump in his heart. And that means he no longer has a pulse, and he actually has to be plugged in to a wall socket at night.  There are few people lower down on my compassion list than Cheney, but I don't wish him ill.  I don't wish him well, either. I mostly don't wish anything about him, except that he should fade from public view (and take Liz with him).  He probably should also buy a generator.

For a guy who seems to have no heart, Dick Cheney's heart sure seems to make a lot of news.

Ann & Nancy Wilson: Cease and Desist, You Old Fart!

Photo from GameSpot

You may have heard that several musicians have complained about John McCain and Sarah Palin using their songs without permission. Several have demanded that they stop, including Ann and Nancy Wilson of the rock group, Heart.

This is, I'm sure just an Onion-style joke. I don't care, it's ten kinds of funny anyway, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Wilsons appreciate it!

I had this posted briefly on the front page of the blog. But because of the off-color language, I decided that it might be better to put this "below the fold."

So, if you like ribald humor, by all means click the link below. If not, scroll on down to the more serious stuff!

Rockers Irritated at McCain-Palin for Using Their Songs

Photo from source, PopEater

Several rock stars are pissed that the John McCain-Sarah Palin campaign have used their songs for their events. I expressed a sigh of relief when I read this, having been a little startled to hear--in particular--Van Halen when Palin was originally introduced.

There probably isn't anything these artists can do to prevent someone from playing their songs--not in a free country. But you'd think for high profile events, that event planners would see what the artists think before using their work. It just seems like common courtesy. And then to refuse to stop using a song?
I'm watching some sort of McCain-Palin whistle-stop on MSNBC right now, and would swear that Van Halen's "Right Now," played them off. It's starting to sound like a theme song, and I'm quite sure Van Halen doesn't like that idea!

Heart Attacks McCain Over 'Barracuda'

"I feel completely [expletive'd] over," the band's Nancy Wilson told EW on Thursday night after their song was played following McCain's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul. According to TMZ -- which broke the scandal, the band has filed a cease and desist order. . .
