Tea Party Comes Clean (And Bares All)

[Excerpt]
The Tea Party Bares All In Playboy
This month’s Playboy has a stunningly unusual and potentially disruptive article: an expose, purporting to be from an established Republican consultant, discussing how Washington hacks are controlling the political advances of the Tea Party. . .
Penned anonymously, the article, “Confessions of a Tea Party Consultant”, strikes the reader at first blush as representing the antithesis of what the Tea Party espouses. The author is insider-y, cynical, and obviously relishes the perverse “dark arts” of winning elections. He – it’s safe to assume it’s a man – takes credit for what he himself calls “downright evil” campaign tactics. . .

John McCain Doesn't Speak for the McCain Campaign?

Image from source, Raw Story
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! For years, liberals like me have felt that George W. Bush wasn't really in charge. We feel he was picked by the usual suspects as an easy-to-control puppet, someone they could use to advance their agenda. They may have gotten more than they bargained for, but they pretty much got everything they wanted (minus a corrosion of the Republican brand).
Could John McCain be in a similar situation? It would certainly seem so, if what he says doesn't necessarily apply to "The McCain Campaign."
[Excerpt]
McCain still doesn’t speak for the McCain campaign
Following up on an item from yesterday, John McCain has said, repeatedly and on the record, that he would never consider raising payroll taxes as part of a Social Security reform effort. Asked if there are “any circumstances” in which he would consider this, even as part of negotiations with congressional Democrats, McCain said, “No. None. None.”
Over the weekend, McCain said the exact opposite, explaining that a payroll tax increase is on the table, much to the consternation of conservative activists. . .

And Your Little Dog Too
I'm back in Ohio, it's 2:30 in the morning, I'm wide awake, and I'm using my arch conservative mother's computer to write my liberal left-wing loony moonbat blog. So, expect my commentaries to be brief while I'm here!
I'll start by posting a picture from AmericaBlog that has no commentary, but is sure to spark some. It's funny at first blush (good one, Mr. Aravosis!), but isn't so good when you realize that Dorothy didn't surrender. Of course she did wake up and find out it was all a dream, so take it any way you want!

Mad TV: Wizard of Oz, the Alternate Ending
I keep promising to insert more frivolity into the mix of news an politics, just to make things a little less dour around here. Thank goodness I have friends that send me story ideas and clips.
Thanks to my friend, Kevin, for sending this link along. It's from Mad TV, lampooning the ending to The Wizard of Oz, and it addresses an issue that always bugged me about the film. Namely, why didn't Glinda the Good Witch just tell Dorothy she could go home any time? Maybe Glinda was just a little bit wicked?
EDITOR'S NOTE: Very often, YouTube clips suddenly vanish. If this clip is no longer available, please contact me at my email address to the left, and let me know. Thanks!
