This Modern World: Tom Tomorrow Tackles Tucson

Yeah, I know I said I'd move on to other topics. And I will, I promise. But I love This Modern World by Tom Tomorrow. And while I've only shared a panel or two of it in the past, this particular strip has been shared in its entirety on several blogs already. So I guess it can't hurt to feature the whole thing here (but I will remove at Mr. Tomorrow's request if necessary).

This Modern World on Obama Protecting Bush

I don't ordinarly excerpt entire works by other persons, but since it's already up around the internets, I'm hopeful that I'm not stepping on any toes. This comic is just fantastic, summing up exactly how I've been feeling about certain aspects of the Barack Obama Administration. I'm still glad I voted for the guy, but this cartoon shows exactly where some of my growing skittishness is coming from.

This Modern World: The Cost of War

This isn't my first link to This Modern World, a fantastic comic strip by Tom Tomorrow. I'm sure it won't be my last. Tomorrow has an amazing gift for succinctly explaining the issue he's lampooning in a very small space, and does so with great wit.

In this strip, he tackles the cost of the Iraq War, and the amount we were told it was going to cost. If anyone had guessed the war would ultimately cost $3 trillion, would anyone have ponied up for it? Does anyone know what we're even supposed to be accomplishing?

And I swear, if I hear Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity or any other right-wing boob complain about "your tax dollars" going for something they deem frivolous, I swear I'm going to scream. Again.

Enough ranting. Check out the full strip here: This Modern World at Salon

This Modern World Takes on Right Wing Media

Rarely a week goes by when Tom Tomorrow's This Modern World isn't absolutely spot-on in its analysis of the current state of politics and media. Amazingly, the strip manages to do this and be funny. This week is no exception. I'd dearly love to run the whole thing, but go to the real site to check out the rest of the strip. And check out the archives. It's genius.

Featured Blog: This Modern World

I've featured Tom Tomorrow's This Modern World on the blog before, but I can't remind you enough. The strip is simply genius. And he runs a great blog too! Check it out:

This Modern World: Secret Plan

Image from Salon.com

This Modern World by Tom Tomorrow is one of the best political cartoons out there in my opinion. Week after week, he hits the nail squarely on the head.

This week, trying to make heads or tails of the Karl Rove influence, he's envisioned what may have been a secret plan, in place since the 60s. Makes about as much sense as anything. . .

This Modern World: Best Comic Strip EVER

Image from ThisModernWorld.com

This is a shout-out to Tom Tomorrow, and his comic strip, This Modern World. I remember, back in my Ohio days (15 years or so ago), reading his strip in the Columbus alternative weekly, The Other Paper. I'd order my coffee at the local hipster coffee-house in the "short north," (I don't remember the name of the place, but I know it wasn't Starbucks), grab the free paper, and flip right to This Modern World. I hadn't even experienced my seismic-shift in political thought yet, but I knew great satire when I saw it.

Tom's still at it, and with Commander Coo-Coo Bananas in charge, his wit has only gotten sharper.
