RNC Wanted to Use Offensive Limbaugh Joke

Photo from source, The Swamp

Rush Limbaugh is referred to as facetiously as "comedian" by Keith Olbermann, but it is true that many of his fans think he's very funny. Why is it though that so often, conservative humor has an ugly edge to it? I mean, people find Ann Coulter funny too, but I don't think any of her jokes aren't at the expense of somebody else (usually a Democrat).

Well, Limbaugh was cracking wise again, this time an imaginary discussion between Barack Obama and newly minted John McCain running-mate, Sarah Palin. It's basically an abortion joke, though it doesn't have a punchline. And the RNC found it to have "great YouTube potential," envisioning a longer conversation, painting Barack Obama as--what?--a wuss? I think that's the gist.

[Excerpt]

Conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh boosted Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's pro-life position and mocked Barack Obama on his radio show yesterday with a make-believe riff in which Obama asked Palin "When you found out your baby would be born with Down syndrome, did you consider killing it before or after the due date?"

Cool Cars: Disappearing Car Doors

I'm having a little difficulty finding interesting stories to report on today. The big ones I've already covered, and everything else seems to leave me cold. But hat-tip to Voenix Rising, where I found this very cool video. The Other Half is a car nut, so this should really shift his gears. . .

Stuck on Stupid II: Sherri Shepherd

I didn't realize when I ran the last post that Stuck on Stupid might become a running feature. But what do you know, it's two in a row.

Sherri Shepherd of ABC's The View has already earned her stripes in the stupid rally, but here she outdoes herself. Yes, Sherri, the focal point of a 2,000-year-old religion out-dates every other religion. Sheesh.

EDITOR'S NOTE: As far as I can tell, Sherri Shepherd's "thing" on the show is her devotion to religion in general, and Jesus in specific. So why is it that in her "area of expertise," she's so clueless? If her religious beliefs are so unexamined, why does she even try enter those discussions?

UPDATE: As is often the case with these "hot" clips, this video disappeared sometime today. I've updated it, however, and it should be working now! Bumped to the top of the list.

Did Clinton Campaign Plant Questioner in GOP Debate?

Photo from source, Raw Story

Republicans are all atwitter over possible "planted" questions in last night's debate. Sean Hannity is bloviating about it (and lying a bit too--big surprise) as I type this. I'm not sure that the YouTube format of this debate precluded Democrats--or anybody--from asking questions. But of course, if some Democrats did ask questions, somehow they are all "Clinton plants." Mmm hmm. The old "all-powerful Clintons" chestnut again. Whatever.

But as the FOX "News" Democratic Strategist (that's what they always call them) on Hannity & Colmes just asked, did the Republicans tear apart the Democratic You Tube debate so intently, looking for Republican questions? Didn't think so.

Clinton campaign: We didn't plant gay soldier

An openly gay retired soldier who quizzed Republican candidates about the military's don't ask don't tell policy was not acting on behalf of Hillary Clinton, despite his role on her campaign's gay-rights steering committee, the campaign said Thursday. . .
