Rachel Maddow & Ana Marie Cox Discuss Sarah Palin

Rachel Maddow again? Sarah Palin again?!? I mean really!?! Yes, yes, but this is some pretty great stuff. Rachel got some comments from one of Palin's biggest targets from her book Going Rogue, Also, Though. Her name is Nicole Wallace, and she was one of Palin's handlers on the John McCain campaign. To say that Wallace has a dim view of Goin' All Mavericky would be putting it lightly.

But the sparks really fly once Rachel starts talking to Ana Marie Cox (originator of Wonkette). Cox declares that Palin's dreams of elected office have been officially dashed by the book, and that her peak of influence is today. If Cox is right, it's all downhill for Palin from here on out. So, Sarah, throw up your hands and go wheeeee!

Dan Savage on Countdown

I'm taking a blogger's easy way out by posting two MSNBC clips in a row, I know. But I really enjoyed this segment of Countdown with Keith Olbermann, with Dan Savage. Rachel Maddow delights in pointing out that Ana Marie Cox is a correspondent for Playboy Magazine, so I was a little surprised that Savage wasn't similarly accredited. He was referred to as "author and activist," when he is best known as the author of a sex advice column and is a gay activist.

Of course, Savage has broadened his horizons past his best-known gigs, so I suppose it's not exactly a faux pas. And Savage delivers with gusto, apparently turning in a double-length segment due to a technical problem with another guest. Check out his uncharacteristic bluntness and honesty not usually seen from cable news guests.

Rachel Maddow & Ana Marie Cox Have Fun With Birthers

On last night's Rachel Maddow Show, the host and Ana Marie Cox have a discussion about the benefits and drawbacks of treating the "birther" conspiracy theory too seriously, or too dismissively. They basically settled on seriously sarcastic, which is always the way I like to go. If you are a fan of either of these wonderful ladies, you'll love this. If not. . .well. . .you won't.

Rachel Maddow InsaniTEA: Teabagging

The very strange GOP strategy of holding "tea parties" is inexplicably picking up steam. It doesn't hurt that all of the right-wing radio blowholes are promoting it, along with "fair and balanced" FOX "News." You'd think that these 'pubbies would know that the term "tea bagging" is a double-entendre. If they do, they must think we're laughing with them, and not at them. But they're wrong!

Here, Rachel Maddow and Ana Marie Cox discuss the practice of tea bagging, with predictable hilarious results. Enjoy.
