A little while ago, I posted a clip from Countdown Keith Olbermann regarding the re-issued congressional subpoena against Karl Rove. Excuse me for going on about it, but the very thought of Turd Blossom in shackles has me all atwitter. So, sue me.

Keith Olbermann and John Dean Discuss Karl Rove Subpoena

I apologize for the slim number of posts lately. In addition to lots of household projects, I also have an increased workload at my real job. It's a welcome development, especially in this economy. But it do make a blogger tired! Still, there are things going on.

And the one news item that gets my political juices flowing is John Conyers re-subpoenaing of Karl Rove. I still worry that I'm getting my hopes up, only to see them dashed again. But hope, I do. Here is a discussion on the subject by Keith Olbermann and John Dean. And if they're right, this could set up a "domino effect" of other Bush Administration officials being forced to testify. Oh please, oh please. . .

More on House's FISA Vote (I'm Still Not Over It)

I've been taking it kind of easy today, at least as it relates to the blog. Laundry, bug spraying, hair cut, grocery shopping. . .all taken care of, and by early in the day too! Since about 2:00 or so, I've been reading The Mormon Murders, an old true-crime book from the 80s, and it's fascinating. But I figure it's time to knuckle down, and put a few things on the ol' blog.

As my mother sarcastically said, "I'm sure they're hanging on your every word." Thanks, Mom.

I'm still pretty grumbly about the House of Representative's FISA/warrantless wiretaps/retroactive immunity for telecoms vote. Too grumbly to say much about it, but here's a great video encapsulating the ruling, and what's wrong with it.

Keith Olbermann: Bush Worse than Watergate

Have you ever heard the famous Richard Nixon quote, "When the President does it, that means it is not illegal?" Well, the Bush Administration has been behaving as if that quote made it TRUE. And since it is often easier to absorb this sort of information by seeing video rather than reading long paragraphs, here is an excellent clip of Keith Olbermann and John Dean explaining it for us.

I've taken Air America Radio's Randi Rhodes' advice to heart, and would like to reiterate it here, don't believe a word you read on this blog. Or those of any other. I'm not saying I'm not trustworthy, I'm only saying, do you homework. If I've said something here that resonates, for good or bad, I want you to check it out for yourself. Read the source material, check out the links, go a little further.

One way to do that, is to crack a book or two. Several that I've read have opened my eyes to how politics operates in this country, and how what we've been lead to believe may not necessarily be true. It's amazing what you can learn, what's out there in black and white, that you've never seen on CNN, MSNBC or FOX "News."

Now I'll admit, most of these books are written from a progressive/liberal point of view. I've really tried to read and digest some of the conservative tomes. I tried Slander by Ann Coulter, Deliver Us From Evil by Sean Hannity, a book by David Limbaugh (Rush's tag along brother), another by Michael (Weiner) Savage. . .all dreadful, partisan tripe. I'm not kidding, ranting and raving, easy to punch holes through.

The following books are much more dense, better researched, and a lot harder to dismiss, in my opinion (admittedly biased). The difference, as I see it, is an effort to present truth over partisanship. They're partisan, all right, but they at least try to be accurate. All highly recommended.
