CPAC? More Like L-PAC (The "L" is for Loser!)

This is just some of them. Laugh or cry?

They say it only happens once per year. But it seems more often, doesn't it?

The stars of the annual CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) shindig are always an eye-roller for most liberals, and this year is no exception. Except that one of the previous speakers--Ann Coulter--predicted the doom of the Republican ticket if Mitt Romney was selected, and she was right. And the keynote is going to be given by said Romney. Throw in Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Paul Ryan and Sarah Palin, and you've got Loser-PAC. And that's not even mentioning the State of the Union also-rans Rand Paul and Marco Rubio. Stir in a little infighting this year, and it should all be quite entertaining.

Here's Why Romney Thought He Was Going to Win

Image from source, The New Republic
It's still a little mind-blowing that Mitt Romney was so certain he was going to win, that he didn't even bother to write a concession speech. I still haven't figured out why people snowed by the self-contained bubble of FOX "News" and talk radio are still clinging to them, even though they were so misled by them. But Romney shouldn't have been in that bubble. As the candidate, we expected him to have real talent helping him with his campaign, not bubble-dwellers and yes-men. But there you go.

So, what exactly went wrong? Here's a hint. I'm still hoping there's a movie.

Exclusive: The Internal Polls That Made Mitt Romney Think He'd Win

It’s no secret that the Romney campaign believed it was headed for victory on Election Day. A handful of outlets have reported that Team Romney’s internal polling showed North Carolina, Florida, and Virginia moving safely into his column and that it put him ahead in a few other swing states. When combined with Ohio, where the internal polling had him close, Romney was on track to secure all the electoral votes he needed to win the White House. . .

Frivolity Break: Madonna's Rejection Letter

Click to embiggen
It turns out everybody gets rejected, even Madonna.  No, not now, back before she was a one-named superstar. It's got to hurt to be one of the people who declined to sign her to a contract. Who knows though, if she hadn't gotten exactly the breaks she got at exactly the time she did, she may never have broken through in the same way. Still, Mr. Ienner had to be kicking himself long about 1984. . .

Former Vice President Dick Cheney, Loser

Image from source, Huffington Post

Hey, that might not be the actual quote contained in the story excerpted below, but that's what I took from it. I've used a lot of negative adjectives to describe Darth Cheney, so "loser" is not so bad really. I kind of like "lonely, paranoid, and frightened" too.

Wilkerson: Cheney "Lonely, Paranoid, Frightened"

The night after Colin Powell delivered his infamous argument to the United Nations justifying the invasion of Iraq, Lawrence Wilkerson, his chief of staff, sat down and wrote a letter of resignation. It was, said Wilkerson Friday, " the lowest point in my professional and my personal life."

He stuffed the letter in his desk drawer. And left it there. . .
