2016 Clown Car Update: Gov. Oopsie McGoodhair, Rick Perry Takes the Wheel

Well, why not? Why not try again after flaming out so utterly and so spectacularly last time? I remember watching that debate live (with my Twitter feed keeping me more entertained up until that moment) with my mouth open. Those were some awkward moments. I almost felt bad for him, until I continued reading Twitter, and was back to having a helluva time. There was some funny stuff to read then! And to think I'd been a little worried about Rick Perry's initial entrance into the 2012 race.

I don't think his 2016 entry is going to make the rest of the GOP class worry too badly.

New GOP Congress Off to Bang Up Start

Wow! See, America, this is what happens when you don't pay attention, fall for truthiness, decide it's the other side's "turn" or just don't vote because you think "they're all the same." The new team--yet to even be sworn it--already has a prominent member guilty of a felony (and resigning after saying he wouldn't). And now a guy third from the top in the House of Representatives who gives speeches for white supremacists. And didn't realize it. He's also kind of a nutbar. Is this what you bargained for?

Rick Perry Booked on Felony Charges

I know, I know. My conservative readers (both of you, hi guys!) may say that the charges on Perry are flimsy and won't hold up. That might be true. There are plenty of pundits on the left saying that very thing. That's something you'll rarely see on the right, by the way. The John Boner Boehner lawsuit against President Obama is flimsier, but Right Wing World drools at the prospect, or wants it to go further to impeachment!

So please, let me take a little joy in that headline, willya?

France Spends Billions on Train that Won't Fit in Station

This story caught my eye, because it has happened before! Not the billions, but the train not fitting thing. Back in my amusement industry days, one of our projects was a monorail that got its doors ripped off on its first trip into the station! And then there were the canal boats that were too heavy for their shallow stream, and just sat on the bottom. These things happen. Usually, people get fired, and companies go out of business, unfortunately.

Republicans Delete Celebratory Tweets on "Obamacare" Decision

For a little while on Thursday morning, many people--even the President--thought that the Affordable Care Act (or, oh-so creatively, "Obamacare") had been rule unconstitutional. CNN heard the first bit of the ruling, misinterpreted it, and ran with it. One wonders if it was worded that way on purpose by whoever typed it up, to dangle that red meat, and then snatch it back! So, tea baggers and the like-minded, had an orgasmic moment, and they took advantage of it. . .and very quickly had to take it back. Oops.

 
I'm sorry they're not a little juicier, I'll admit. But wait until I find that Jean Schmidt clip!
