How Dumb Are Trump Voters? New Poll Sheds Some Light (They're Pretty Dumb)

It needs to be a named law: "If you're trying to insult a group of people (especially online), you will make a foolish mistake that proves that you are the idiot." It may be a corollary to Murphy's Law, but it needs its own name. Poe's Law is taken. So is Rule 34. Godwin's Law too. Dare I make the idiot rule "Greenlee's Law?" Nah, I'm sure someone has already taken it, and that's kind of like being Lou Gehrig, Mr. Parkinson or Mr. Alzheimer. Anyway, the idiot rule applies here (and yes, I initially misspelled "idiot" in the headline!).

You didn't get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.

You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn't get mad when we let a major US city drown.

You didn't get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark.

You finally got mad when.. when... wait for it... when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all ok with you but helping other Americans... well f**k that. That about right? You know it is.

You people have all lost your fucking minds. You are selfish, greedy, obnoxious, narcissistic, and frankly... stupid. Your pathetic little misspelled protest signs are embarrassing. Maybe you ought to find the smart person in your midst and let them make up all the signs, cause man, you look like a bunch of idiots. Also you're ugly and your mother dresses you funny.

Shocking Poll of GOP Beliefs; More Shocking Response

OK, "shocking" might be a little strong. It is actually not so surprising given the prevalence of FOX "News" and right-wing talk radio. What it shows is that the extreme right-wing is now firmly entrenched in the conservative mainstream. What remains to be seen is whether or not what was the fringe is able to drag centrists and independents to the extreme edge with them.

Poll: What Republicans believe

A new Research 2000 poll of more than 2,000 Republicans, conducted for the liberal blog Daily Kos, has some eyebrow-raising findings:
-- 63% of them believe President Obama is a socialist
-- 53% believe Sarah Palin is more qualified to be president than Obama is
-- 39% believe he should be impeached
-- 36% believe he wasn't born in the United States
-- 31% believe the president hates white people-- 24% believe the president wants the terrorists to win
-- 23% believe their state should secede from the union

That last one is to me, proof positive that the "America first" mantra of the right is pure hokum. How can you say you're a patriotic American if you think your state should secede from the union? It's actually worse than it looks on the surface, when you factor in all of the "unsure" votes in the poll. Hmmm, should my state secede? I just don't know!!!

Go a little deeper into the far-right's favorite internet outpost, FreeRepublic.com, and the picture gets even weirder. They're almost uniformly on board with this poll, by my read. There is very little there that tries to belie any of it. And yet they'll complain that this poll was conducted with the Daily Kos (left-wing blog) name attached. Which is it, folks? The poll is bogus because it is lefty-inspired, or it's totally accurate? Based on the comments excerpted below, I'm going with the latter.

It's bad enough that the right wing has been throwing around bogeyman words like "socialism," "Marxism," "communism" and worse since Sarah Palin arrived from Alaska last year. It's worse when the people slinging these insults have no idea what the words mean, but hurl them anyway. But it's hilarious when they not only can't define the slur, but can't even spell it. What a moran. . .

Oh, and I didn't want to say anything, but there's an indefinable something about this fella that sets off alarm bells. Like he might be trying to hard to seem like "one of the guys" or something? Maybe it's just me.
