Rachel Maddow: If At First You Don't Secede. . .

Sorry for the dearth of posts recently. Just ran out of time. And now that I have a little, I want to do something else with it! But I'm gonna post a few things before going out the door.

This clip is from The Rachel Maddow Show from last night, and it is pretty great. In it, Texas Governor Rick Perry asserts what a great American he is by suggesting that Texas might secede from the rest of the country! And he's not the only one. This plays right into my pet theory that hardcore conservatives have so long heard that "liberals" are bad, bad, bad, that they're just losing their shit with liberals in power. It's been freakin' THREE MONTHS and they're already talking revolution and secession? What's this going to look like in three years?

  1. For once, Texas Governor Rick Perry is correct. Many conservative and libertarian Americans agree that the right of peaceful, democratic secession by state convention is a legitimate constitutional right of every state in the union.

There are only two solutions to the massive Washington national debt now threatening the economic future and prosperity of every productive American. One is peaceful secession on the state level from the Washington Empire leaving the illegitimate federal debts with the Washington and Wall Street interests who created the debts. The second alternative is a constitutional amendment by the states to cancel the Washington national debt. The cancel the Washington Debt by 12/21/2012 Constitutional Amendment is now online at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=67594690498&ref=ts

  2. Leaving aside the legality of the issue, don't you think seceding from the union would be the ULTIMATE un-American act? You realize they faught a WAR over this in the past, and which side won, right?
