People Who Live in Glass Showers Shouldn't Throw Loofahs?

Thanks to Stupid Monkey Planet for reminding me to post this clip from Thursday's The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell. In it, Lawrence reminds FOX "News" star Bill O'Reilly that he really has no place making fun of  Rep. Anthony Weiner, when O'Reilly has his own embarrassing sex scandal.

By the way, can we please get a little perspective on this Weiner thing? A picture of underpants does not really (ahem) rise to the level of sex scandal, does it? Especially when it hasn't been proven that this photo was actually sent by the Congressman. I don't care if it's actually a photo of him. Who knows, maybe his new wife snapped a pic of some "morning wood," and he really was hacked.

  1. My own theory is that he crashed on someone's couch after a wild party, and another party-goer took the picture while he was sleeping, then shared the picture with their friends. They might have thought it was harmless, since it didn't show the subject's face.

Weiner seems to be trying so hard not to tell a direct lie, but he is clearly hiding something. Someone should ask his wife whether she thinks the picture is of her husband. Straight men in a relationship rarely buy their own underwear (Madison Avenue knows this) or pay much attention to it, so it is possible that Weiner really isn't sure if the picture is him (especially if it was taken while he was unconscious).

  2. I think it's likely that it is a little more innocent than that. Weiner is a newlywed, and isn't exactly a dashing rogue. I'm guessing that he either took this for his new wife, or SHE took it. I think he knows it is of him, and is taking great lawyerly pains to not acknowledge it, because he can't come up with an excuse for it.

But this is still a very odd "sex scandal." I maintain that any photo that can be shown unblurred on ABC's 20/20 can't be TOO scandalous.
