Michele Bachmann Signs Anti-Gay, Anti-Porn, Pro-Slavery Pledge?

"Pandering? Why do you say that?"

Do you remember who won the Iowa caucuses in 2008? Mike Huckabee. Before that, it was George W. Bush twice, and Bob Dole barely beat Pat Buchanan and Pat Robertson in two separate contests. So, while the contest sometimes produces an actual winner, there is a definite super Jesusy vibe going on in the Iowa GOP. And what does religious right care most about? Jobs? No. Squashing gay rights, fighting abortion, fighting Sharia Law (!), and stealthily imposing Christian law. Oh, and probably guns too.
But the pledge being floated in Iowa by "The FAMiLY LEADER" (yes, that's how they spell it) is mostly concerned with the gay, Sharia Law (again, !) and porn. Because Republicans never look at porn. As with most organizations with "family" in the name, the organization exists primarily to make gay people's lives miserable if possible. It's lead by the incredibly creepy looking Bob Vander Plaats, an unsuccessful Iowa politician who has made it his life's mission to take away or prevent gay rights.

Vander Plaats is something of a hypocrite, which comes as no surprise. For instance, his pledge has as one of its points: "Respect for the marital bonds of others." Gay marriage is legal in Iowa, but Vander Plaats has zero respect for those marital bonds. Cognitive dissonance is often embraced in politics though, so Michele Bachmann and Rick (don't Google me) Santorum have eagerly signed the ridiculous, meaningless pledge.
