Romney & Obama Tell Jim Lehrer to "Shut the F* Up" (Jimmy Fallon)

Unexpected work night means quickie posts. But that doesn't mean they aren't entertaining! This is a spoof of the first presidential debate, from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Right Wing World's Faux Outrage Over Obama's Late Night Appearance

I am convinced that there is literally nothing that President Obama could do (or by ommission not do) to avoid the right-wing faux outrage machine. When I saw Obama on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, I was a) struck by how good Obama is at that sort of thing, b) marveled that such a thing would be impossible for Mitt Romney and c) knew that Right Wing World would go all wobbly over it.

Predictably, they did. It was beneath the dignity of the office they said (it wasn't). It wasn't funny they said (it was). I didn't need Lawrence O'Donnell to remind me about Richard Nixon on Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, or Ronald Reagan's spot on the Dean Martin Roast. And even recent history had Obama's rivals, Hillary Clinton, John McCain and Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live, as was Obama himself. Dubya appeared in several different popular programs, notably American Idol.

So, get the stick out of your asses, Right Wing World! You're starting to go from having sketchy senses of humor to being completely humorless.

Frivolity Break: Jimmy Fallon as Charlie Sheen

Yeah, I'm still having difficulty finding something good to blog about it. But I'm not down about it. Duh. Winning!

Emmy Awards Recap

Image from Stargate-SG1-Solutions.com
I'm not going to post any winners here, since people may have recorded it to watch later, and I suppose some markets could be time-shifting it. For me, in Las Vegas, I was surprised to see The Emmy Awards broadcast live.  They may have done it before, but usually it is tape-delayed in the Pacific Time Zone, which is terrible for someone who doesn't want to be spoiled.

Anyway, for the first time in a while, almost the entire program was really, really entertaining. I've underestimated Jimmy Fallon (and who could blame me after Taxi?).  The opening Glee! tribute was amazing and funny.  I'll post the clip when it is available. The speeches (except for Al Pacino's) were funny, entertaining, or at least endurable.  This year they tightened the show by moving some awards to last week's untelevised "Schmemmys," and hurray for that.  It looked like the people present were having a great time, and Fallon really delivered.

Here's a comedy clip they did using ABC's Modern Family cast, allegedly getting tips from the powers that be, on how to "improve" the show.  That sort of network meddling happens a lot, especially with freshman shows--it killed Mork & Mindy, and countless others--so I'm sure the cast enjoyed digging at the network execs. Plus, there's a great star cameo (which I can go ahead and spoil as George Clooney, since the preview gives the joke away).  Kudos to NBC for putting on a great show, and allowing Fallon (and others) to rip on them for the Conan O'Brien/Jay Leno fiasco.

Sarah Palin's Going Rogue GOES ROGUE!

In a cute skit from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Sarah Palin's book Going Rogue gets loose, and "goes rogue," including shooting Rachel Maddow! Yeah, you knew I'd work in Palin and Maddow somewhere tonight, right? Right.

Did Rachel Maddow Have Swine Flu?

It can be difficult for some people to tell when Rachel Maddow, MSNBC host and Greenlee Gazette favorite, is joking or not. And I'm really not sure if she had the H1N1 bug. Still, any excuse to post me a Rachel clip, particularly when it is on an entertainment program, where she can let loose. From Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Rachel Maddow Teaches Jimmy Kimmel Fallon Bartending

Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann sure have been making the rounds lately. They're almost as visible as President Barack Obama. I'm sure they're trying to boost their MSNBC "brand," though they probably can't hope to topple the inexplicable FOX "News" juggernaut. Still, if they manage to raise Bill O'Reilly's blood pressure even further, then good for them!

UPDATE: By the way, I do know the difference between Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, but I was just thinking "late night show host" when I typed the original headline. At least I didn't say it was Jimmy Hoffa or Jimmy Legs or something. . .

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Jindal & Kenneth the Page

Sigh. I was going to stay away. But how could I resist another Bobby Jindal post, when Jack McBrayer--Kenneth the Page from NBC's 30 Rock--responds to the comparisons made between the two? And on the brand new Late Night with Jimmy Fallon no less? Sorry guys, I couldn't resist.
