Rick Perry's Life Ruled by Supernatural Happenings

Ugh. Please no. No viable candidate looks for supernatural explanations in ordinary events. Right? Right?!?

  1. I don't know, didn't Jimmy Carter do the same? Oh, wait, that was killer rabbits.
I do agree with you on this one- I generally don't care about a person religous affliations unless it affects his governing. I think Obama was a rare case. But the Clintons and Carter for the Dem's and the GOP field's relgion doesn't make me care one way or the other.
But if you make your canmpaign solely on religion, kind of like Perry, then I do have problems.
And no, Perry is not my choice for the next GOP president.

  2. Jimmy carter was very religious, but took great pains to keep his religion and his politics separate. I don't remember the giant rabbit bit (I was 10-14 when he was president, and not politically savvy). But if the current GOP field's religion doesn't give you the willies, what would? Perry, Santorum and Bachmann are at the very least Dominionist-friendly. That means, they'd prefer it if the Bible were used instead of the Constitution. That's screamingly un-American.

I suspect that Obama is atheist/agnostic like me, and has gone to church because his wife wants him to. Just like his opposition to gay marriage is just for political reasons. Again, just a suspicion, I have no proof.

  4. Just looked it up. Sounds like mostly a press invention, actually.
