Whenever a story or scandal seems to only be getting play on right-wing talk radio, blogs and FOX "News", my antennae go up. Especially when said outlets are whining that "nobody" in the "mainstream media" is covering the story. When this happens, it is usually something like the "new Black Panthers" non-story. Or one of Breitbart's or his lackeys' "sting" operations. But the Solyndra "scandal" actually turned up on a reliable (if comedic) source, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
So was there something to this scandal after all? Well, maybe not.
[Excerpt]
Chris Hayes Explains Why Solyndra Bankruptcy Is Not A Scandal
On Sunday’s sophomore edition of Up with Chris Hayes , freshly-minted host Chris Hayes took on the burgeoning Solyndra “scandal,” and made the case that it was, at worst, a case of bad optics. House Republicans have been trying to make a dollar out of this fifteen cents, and the conservative media have been peddling it like funnel cake, but despite Jon Stewart‘s credulous purchase of the “scandal,” it doesn’t really amount to much upon closer inspection. . .

Irony Alert: FOX TV's "Green it, Mean it" Promotion
I'm aware that FOX Television and FOX "News" are different divisions of the same company. But they're still both appendages of the same corporate creature. Given that FOX "News" is one of the biggest megaphones for global climate change deniers, it is somewhat ironic to see the entertainment division throwing their weight behind a "green" promotion. Don'tcha think?

Potential Energy Committee Chairman Wants to Leave it to God
Ugh. Elections have consequences, as they say. And true to form, the very worst candidates for any given committee chair in the House of Representatives are gunning for them. Honestly, we don't have to worry about global climate change, because God promised he wouldn't murder us all with weather again? Well shit, why worry about anything then? Jeebus is coming back soon, right? So we might as well just do nothing and wait for the rapture!

Energy Committee Chairman Candidate Says God Promised no More Catastrophic Climate Change after Noah
Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.), who will seek the Energy and Commerce Committee chairmanship maintains that we do not have to worry about climate change because God promised in the Bible not to destroy the world again after Noah’s flood. . .

Ryan Reynolds: The Price of a Gallon of Gas
I agree with what Ryan Reynolds is saying here, and. . .I. . .oh, who am I kidding. Even if I didn't, I'd watch him just stand there.

Daily Show: An Energy-Independent Future
Every President since Nixon has promised an energy-independent future, most predicting a date when such a thing would take place. Those predictions are just about exactly as good as doomsday predictions. Energy independence a nebulous notion, at least as long as we are dependent upon fossil fuels. Without something concrete to replace oil and coal, we're stuck with them. With oil--despite the "drill, baby, drill" cries, all oil goes on the international market. In order to still use oil, we'd have to radically alter the oil market to keep what we drill. Which renders that whole mantra even more stupid than it sounds at first blush.
All of this is better handled through a comedic framework, and no one does it better than The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Oh Noes! A Massive Wind Spill in California!
Image from FinFacts
Hilarious!
[Excerpt]
Massive windspill reported in Southern California.
I'm-- I'm so sorry if this is disjointed (WHOOOSH) or confusing (WHOOSH), but-- I find myself the middle of a disaster of unprecedented proportions (WHOOOSH) and -- oh the humanity -- I'm having a hard time understanding how we progressives (WHOOOSH) (WHOOOSH) could ever let this happen!?
You see, I live in Southern California... just north of the Tehachapi Pass Wind Farm... and this morning a gang of lipstick lesbians lost control of their motorcycles and CRASHED into one of the turbines and now...
THERE IS (WHOOOSH) F**KING WIND (WHOOOSH) EVERYWHERE!!!!

A Strange Building Rises in Boston

Image from source, Asylum
WTF? I mean seriously, WTF?
[Excerpt]
Skyscraper to grow bio-fuel algae on its outer walls?
A new high-rise building in Boston USA may be the future home of a bunch of green slime. Plans to turn the building into a vertical urban farm are moving ahead with the intended crop to be biofuel algae. Potatoes would be cooler, but hey, whatever works. . .

Hold a Hologram in Your Hand

Well, this is kinda nifty. GE has a site dedicated to solar and wind power, with an interactive feature. If you have a printer and a webcam, you're all set. That stunning picture is me, holding the "hologram." It's a little glitchy, but then my webcam is a $5 jobbie, so it may work better for you.

ABC Refuses to Run "WE" Anti-Big Oil Ad
I've watched it, and I can't see what's so objectionable. Take a look, and see what you think. You can urge ABC to reconsider at the site, if you feel like it.

Tell ABC to Air Our Ad
