Rush Limbaugh Connects Cleveland Kidnapping with Hawaii Five-O

On Monday night, after hearing all day about the three women (and one child) held captive over a decade in a Cleveland, Ohio house, I turned on Hawaii Five-O on CBS, as I'm wont to do. And I was surprised to find that the episode's plot bore some resemblance to the awful real-life story. Most of the details were different, but it dealt with long-term kidnapping and imprisonment of women. I thought nothing more than that it was an odd coincidence, and was surprised there wasn't a disclaimer, or a scuttling of the episode until later in the season.

Leave it to Rush Limbaugh, classy guy that he is, to try and connect the plot of the episode--having to do with welfare fraud--with the real-life tragedy. And then, to Cleveland voting for Obama? Hey, Rush, America voted for Obama! He's really such a pig.

When discussing the Rush Limbaugh/Sandra Fluke story, it is always important to point out that Rush wasn't just wrong for treating a private citizen that way. He had the entire story wrong. Nothing he said bore relation to reality. Fluke wasn't talking about her own sex life. She wasn't talking about anyone's sex life. In fact, a major part of what she was talking about was contraception as medicine. It had nothing to do with taxpayer funding.

I've said all of this before, but it doesn't really seem to be sinking in. The Rush fans and FReepers are still calling Fluke a slut, heedless of the fact that it's all in pig boy's fetid mind. Pisses me off. And the ones who feel the need to try to save face have tried to make some sort of point using Bill Maher calling Sarah Palin names. Which is the classic apples-to-oranges comparison.  Aside from the fact that Palin is a public figure, she was used as a punch line. Limbaugh used Fluke as a punching bag. Gaagghhh! Fair warning folks, this is a video of Karl Rove, deconstructing Michelle Obama's powerful speech last night. He ain't pretty, and just watching the guy requires a couple of drinks, a strong stomach or both. But even a strong stomach will have trouble tolerating Rove, talking about emotions and warmth.

Not surprisingly, Rove didn't think Obama's speech was very good. But his comments are so far from the speech I watched, I can be comforted in knowing that I'm nothing like Karl Rove. And what could be better than that?

Rove: Attack on McCain's Elitism Really on Cindy McCain?

OK, while I'm beating this horse (McCain's many houses gaffe), I might as well post something from the other side, namely from the Turdblossom himself, Karl Rove. The sultan of sleaze, the soulless "architect" of the disastrous last eight years, is whining that calls of elitism on McCain are actually an attack on poor (ha!) Cindy McCain.

The irony is thick. John McCain, "straight talker" and "the maverick" used to be above sleazy politics. But this time around--McCain's last chance at bat--he has enlisted Rove to help him win. And Rove continues to be a commentator on the GOP propaganda outlet, FOX "News," undisclosed as a McCain operative. Rove is helping McCain tar and feather Obama with sleazy, misleading attacks, and then complains when the sleaze--truthful this time--comes back.

Congressional Committee Holds Karl Rove in Contempt

Frustrating doesn't even begin to describe this story for me. A Congressional committee votes--down party lines--to hold Karl Rove in contempt of Congress. He didn't show up for a Congressional subpoena, and somehow every Republican on the committee thought that was just swell. I'd love to see written arguments.

Anyway, Rove is guilty of much, probably much more than we're aware of. And they finally have him dead to rights, and he's probably going to get away with it anyway. I understand it's an election year, and Democrats don't want to rock the boat. But how many Democrats would be energized by seeing Democratic leaders grow a spine? I'm thinking quite a few. . .

Anyway, after seven years of watching Republicans do whatever the hell they please, laws, ethics and the Constitution be damned, it would be nice if this somehow came to something.
