Look, Ma! I Shouldn't Exist!: Hybrid Puppies

And I don't mean they're good for the environment when I say "hybrid." I mean the original definition, the mixing of two gene pools, often pools that don't occur naturally.

People are apparently becoming more interested in "designer doggies," mixing poodles with golden retrievers, and the like. I think it's kind of weird, but there's no denying that some of these combos are very cute.

We once had two female dogs ("bitches" just seems rude), a pit bull terrier and a Labrador retriever; both of which made sweet love down by the fire with a Norwegian elk hound, who really got around. Most of the resultant elk-bull puppies died (their mother crushed them), but the Labrador took care of her elk-bradors, who were very cute but strangely repelled by and attracted to water. They wanted in sooo bad, but then got frightened when they got wet. Labby (that was really her name) took care of her own pups, as well as the elk-bulls.

Now, what I really want to see is a Labrador retriever crossed with a Chihuahua, which would undoubtedly be called a "Lab Rat."
