Obama Response to McCain/Palin Smear: Keating 5

A lot of patient liberal bloggers like me have been wondering when Barack Obama would pull the "Keating Five" arrow out of his quiver, and I now see what he was waiting for. Excepting for a glitch in the polls right after Sarah (wink!) Palin was unveiled, Obama's polling has been going pretty well. No need to hit with a hammer, when a lighter touch would do.

But today, both John McCain and Half-baked Alaska have revved up a revival of Hillary Clinton's "kitchen sink" strategy. Their game is mostly a "guilt by association" strategy, trying to graft the reputations of people like Rev. Jeramiah Wright and Bill Ayers onto Obama. The weird part being, that both McCain and Palin have plenty of similar people they can be grafted to.

For now, Obama has just decided to use the real, non-smeary tale of McCain's history as one of (not associated with) the Keating Five from the savings and loan scandal of the 80s and 9os. But he's got a lot more arrows in his quiver if they keep this up.

Keating Economics

"Keating Economics: the Making of a Financial Crisis" is a documentary that shows why John McCain's failed philosophy and poor judgment are a recipe for deepening the economic crisis.
