"Christian" Group Supports Uganda's "Kill the Gays" Bill?

Image from Advocate.com

For several weeks, The Rachel Maddow Show--and almost nobody else--has been reporting on the so-called "kill the gays" bill out of Uganda. The bill would imprison gay people for years, or even life. Worse, in some cases--those deemed to be "aggravated homosexuality"--the sentence would be the death penalty. Some of the stranger aspects of the bill, is that it would also jail people who just knew of gay people, but did not report them to the government. And, should a gay Ugandan decide to escape the draconian law by leaving the country? They would still have to worry about extradition and imprisonment if they showed signs of teh gay in a different country!

You'd think that even the most homophobic bigot on the planet would casually back away from this one, or just clam up, no matter how pleased this sort of bill might make him. You'd be wrong. While several right-wing politicians have tacitly denounced the bill, and some evangelicals (who are likely partially responsible for its creation) have distanced themselves as well. But not everyone thinks of this bill as a bad thing.
If you visit an uber-"conservative" site like FreeRepublic, you'll find good "Christians" who are delighted by this bill. You'll find some that think it'd be a swell idea here. But that's a semi-anonymous message forum. Nobody would want to attach their name to a piece that seems to be on board with a kill or imprison for life bill for gay people, would they?

Yes they would. And they would do it while bringing up NAMBLA. And George Soros. And scare quotes (you know, like the ones I put around "conservative" and "Christian" above, though mine are sarcasm quotes). They put the scare quotes around the words gay, gay rights, civil rights, homophobic, transgender, and gender identity. So, I'm excerpting a little here to show you what a "douche nozzle" the "writer," Cliff Kincaid is.

[Excerpt]
Media Homosexuals Bash Uganda's Christians

The Washington Post editorial page has now joined lesbian MSNBC commentator Rachel Maddow in blasting the government of Uganda for considering a law to protect children from homosexual predators and the dangerous public health impact of the homosexual lifestyle. Despite its moderate views on some foreign policy issues, the Post has always come down firmly on the side of making homosexuality into a special right that should be protected and even glorified by governmental institutions. Now it wants to impose that view on Uganda's mostly Christian population. . .
