Quote of the Day: The Rude Pundit on Dick Cheney

"In Brief: Dick Cheney Is Still Alive and Talking, For Some Reason"

And nothing more really needs to be said. But of course he did, and of course, it's good. Read more at: RudePundit.blogspot.com

Military Ignored Cheney's Shoot Down Order on 9/11

An evil dick. Image from source, Raw Story
So, we all thought that Dick Cheney was really the President on September 11, 2001. Dick Cheney certainly seems to have thought he was the President on that and many other days. But the military seems to have figured out that whatever evil powers Cheney might have had, he was not the president. At least not on that particular day.

Military officials ignored Cheney’s 9/11 shoot-down order

Newly published audio this week reveals that Vice President Dick Cheney's infamous Sept. 11, 2001 order to shoot down rogue civilian aircraft was ignored by military officials, who instead ordered pilots to only identify suspect aircraft. . .

Cheney's New Book Tries to Re-Write History

Evil never dies. Image from source, Time
Also, water is wet. Las Vegas is hot in August. And Glenn Beck is still crazy. Really, could anything be more predictable than Dick Cheney using the occasion of his memoir to spin, polish the truth and outright lie? We'd really expect nothing less. The question is, how long is this heartless man (okay, his heart is still there, it just doesn't beat anymore) going to keep popping up? Goodness knows he really shouldn't even be walking free. Of the huge number of Bush Administration officials who should have long ago gone to jail, I can't think of any (except maybe Karl Rove) more deserving than Cheney.

One thing we do know is that he has continued to lie long after he ceased to have a pulse.

In New Memoir, Dick Cheney Tries to Rewrite History

Early critics have argued that Dick Cheney’s forthcoming memoir, held under strict embargo until its official release on Aug. 30, is a predictable reprise of old arguments. Like most examples of the genre, In My Time has plenty of those. But a careful reading of Cheney’s narrative, obtained by TIME, turns up quite a bit of new material. Sometimes subtly and sometimes starkly, the vice president’s story takes issue with the public record on pivotal events. . .

Dick Cheney Called "War Criminal" at CPAC

What's stranger, that Dick Cheney was cheered with USA! USA! USA!; that Cheney doesn't have a heartbeat; that he looks like he's melting, that he looks more like the Batman villain "The Penguin" than ever; that he was called a "war criminal" at CPAC of all places, or that hat he doesn't seem to mind?

UPDATED:  to add a clip from Del Shores' Sordid Lives of the fabulous Olivia Newton-John as Bitsy Mae singing "You Sure Look Like a Dick to Me." Go to 1:10 for the best part.

John McCain's Danged Fence Deathstar

I always knew "maverick" was code for Dark Side.  Kudos to the maker of this Star Wars/John McCain parody. Brilliant.

Some Thoughts on CPAC

Just a thought on CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference). . .

If Dick Cheney is your "rock star," you are:

a) Not a part of some new political movement.

b) Not mainstream politically.

c) Horrifically short of leaders

d) Rooting for a gay rights supporter (!), and

e) Cheering on as a "solution" to our problems one of the guys who caused our problems.

Liz Cheney Frantically Tries to Cover for Dad, Dick

Image from ProgressivePuppy

Didja watch This Week with George Stephanopoulos? Liz Cheney, daughter of satan Darth Vader Dick Cheney was on the roundtable panel. And she had to go into hyper overdrive to defend dear old Dad on torture. I'll give her this, she's tenacious, and seems to believe what she's saying. How much effort did this girl have to put her conscience through these past eight years? That's a long time to over-rationalize.

Religious Processional Followed by Dark Side of the Force!

FailBlog.org is a great place to go if you want to laugh yourself stupid. Seriously, it usually makes me fog up my glasses, and get the hiccups. This video is typical of the site, and while it may not leave you in stitches, trust me when I tell you, if you go to the site you will get progressively weaker and weaker in your resistance to laughter.

George W. Bush Writing His Memoirs?

So. . .many. . .jokes. So. . .hard to write. . .head exploding. No, not the President's head, mine. How the hell does George W. Bush--who has been (along with the sinister Darth Cheney) hiding most of what he's doing, or lying about it--write about his administration? And how can a man who can barely string a coherent sentence together write a book? Will there be lots of pictures? Drawings? Sudoku?

Bush contemplates writing memoirs

US President George W Bush, scrutinised in books by former colleagues including a blistering critique by his ex-spokesman, is considering writing a memoir of his own.

Mr Bush has been silent on former spokesman Scott McClellan's book, which said the White House shaded the truth and conducted a propaganda campaign to make its case to invade Iraq and topple Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Asked if he planned to pen his own book after leaving office in January, Mr Bush said it was a possibility. . .

The Onion: Tape May Show Dick Cheney's Whereabouts

Image from source, The Onion

You've gotta love The Onion. Friend and contributor Stupid Monkey Planet pointed out this story, reminding me to check in on that site a little more often. Great stuff. They're kind of like the dirtier, online version of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Love it.

Latest Cheney Tape May Contain Evidence Of His Whereabouts

Reports surfaced Tuesday that the New York–based Fox News Channel has obtained a tape which purportedly features another cryptic video message from U.S. vice president and known extremist Dick Cheney, widely regarded as the most feared man in America.

"We have analyzed the tape, and the voice on it matches up with earlier recordings of the vice president," said CIA spokesman George Little, who claimed the tape may contain valuable clues regarding the location of the elusive Cheney. . .

Cheney Impeachment? Music to My Ears

Not quite Luke Skywalker, Dennis Kucinich takes on Darth Cheney. From source, Raw Story

My friend Les thinks that impeaching Cheney is the dumbest thing he's ever heard. What I don't believe he's considered is, if they impeached Bush, we'd be left with President Cheney. So it makes sense to go for ol' Darth before you try to get the Emperor. Right?

Anyway, it really makes little difference, because I've resigned myself to the uncomfortable fact that the entire Administration will likely escape accountability. Even so, seeing stories like this give me a glimmer of hope.

[Excerpt]

Kucinich says he will force House vote on Cheney impeachment

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) announced he would move to force a vote next week on his resolution calling for the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney.

“The momentum is building for impeachment,” Kucinich said in a
statement on his Web site. “Millions of citizens across the nation are demanding Congress rein in the Vice President’s abuse of power. . .
