19 Ways to Leave Your Duggars (Another Rocky Mountain Mike Song Parody)

Bwahaha! Obviously, a Paul Simon classic reworked as a lament about Mike Huckabee trying to extricate himself from an endorsement of the now toxic Duggar family. Brilliant.

The Duggars Finally Speak Out (Funny or Die)

I love inappropriate humor. I'm the one who is constantly biting his cheeks to keep from laughing at a funeral. I'm prone to be the one who says the thing that has others laughing at a funeral. And I can permanently wreck your favorite song by coming up with "better" lyrics that you'll forevermore have in your head when it comes on. So, the style of Funny or Die--making fun of even the unfunniest subjects is what they do--is right up my alley. But let's be clear. Any humor in the Michelle and Jim Bob (even his name is funny) Duggar (with a last name that sounds like a hillbilly sex act) scandal is directed at the hypocrisy, the irony, the absurdity, not the crime, or the victims? Clear? Okay. . .

Sarah Silverman's Proposal to Sheldon Adelson (NSFW)

Image from Jewcy
As a Las Vegas resident for almost 18 years, I'm of course familiar with Sheldon Adelson, the rich dude who owns the Venetian. His name is big in town, as you'd expect. I knew that he was a conservative, and a bit eccentric. But I think for a while I had him confused with John Cleese's portrayal in Rat Race. Which means, I thought he was a harmless billionaire.

And then there was Newt. Adelson pretty much single-handedly kept Newt Gingrich in the Republican Primaries long past his expiration date. That's one guy (two if you count his wife) keeping a candidate in the race, through largesse. It's just odd. And now that Newton has bounced, Adelson is pumping money into supporting Mitt Romney. In this case, it isn't single-handed, but it could be. And it's all so puzzling. Before Obama was president, Adelson's holdings were hemorrhaging cash. In the last 3+ years, he's rebounded. Why does Obama scare him so? And should one guy have this much power?

Sarah Silverman has a proposition for Mr. Adelson. And being Sarah Silverman, she's not exactly ladylike about it. Or maybe she is, it depends upon your definition. But I will tell you that this us not safe for work. So, don't complain to me that it's dirty and tasteless. I just told you that.

Choice Words from The Rude Pundit

Tell me something. How was I supposed to not post an excerpt of the following article with a title like this?

[Excerpt]

A Brief List of Conservative Men Who Need to Be Punched in the Balls:

. . .3. Presidential candidate Rick Santorum, who said yesterday that it's snobby to think that all kids should go to college. No, really: "Who are you? Who are you to say that every child in America go...I mean the hubris of this president to think that he knows what’s best for you. I...you know there is...I have seven kids. Maybe they’ll all go to college. But, if one of my kids wants to go and be an auto mechanic, good for him. That’s a good-paying job. . ."

First off, a starting auto mechanic makes around $30,000 a year in New Hampshire, so, hey, Rick Santorum's kids, your Dad wants you to live at less than 1.5 times the poverty level for a family of four (and you will breed, being Rick Santorum's kids).

Second off, what the motherf**k is Santorum talking about? . . .

Funny or Die: Ass Pennies

Okay, so my blog seems to be doing weird things in both Internet Explorer and Firefox. So this is just a test post, to see if I can straighten things out. It's a Funny or Die bit from a while back and it's funny, if you're an overgrown sophomore like me. Meanwhile, I'll see if I can figure out what's going on around here. . .

Comedian Tracy Morgan's Anti-Gay Tirade Not Funny

Hmmm. I love 30 Rock. It's one of the funniest shows on television. But Tracy Morgan (who plays Tracy Jordan, the star of the show-within-the-show) is by no means the funniest part, or even a necessary part. Cut him loose, the show will survive. Not as sure about what will happen when Alec Baldwin leaves, however. . .

Rachel Maddow on Rick Santorum's Google Problem

This long weekend is an ideal time to catch up on a little blogging, but it's a bad time to feel like doing it. Still, I want some fresh stuff up on the blog, because you know me. I'm a giver. So, here is a clip I meant to post earlier, from The Rachel Maddow Show, late last week. In it, Rachel discusses Rick Santorum's Google problem, and how he's just made it worse.

The Lighter Side of Serious: Obama's Been Busy

We Americans can find the humor in almost any situation. This made me chuckle. No apologies for that.

Tea Party/Republican Official E-mails Racist Photoshop Fail

I thought about not posting this. But it is everywhere
by now, and the ugliness should be exposed.
From source, NY Daily News
At work, there's a lady who is friends with my boss who sends all manner of emails. Like a person who only just discovered the internet (but who has in fact been using it for a decade), she forwards anything that passes through her mailbox to her whole email list. Recipes. Jokes about old age. Jokes about menopause. URGENT!!!!1!!11!!! virus warnings. Urban legends passed along as fact (Snopes says it's true!!!).  But mostly, she passes along political emails.

Not just political news, or even political opinion. We're talking full-on conspiracy theory, Obama is a radical Muslim, Marxist, socialist, communist, statist, evil, anti-Christ. And he's a radical Christian. Plus, wasn't he born in Kenya? His grandmother said so! And what about that birth certificate? On top of this, she's not beyond sending something overtly racist, rather than that other (barely) more subtle stuff. So don't tell me an old lady can't be a racist. And no, of course this doesn't lend any credence to racism within the tea party. Perish the thought.

Marilyn Davenport, Republican official in California, didn't think Obama as chimp e-mail was racist

A California Republican party official who sent out an e-mail of President Obama's face super-imposed onto a chimp says she's sorry, but insists she wasn't trying to be racist. . .

Irony Alert: Anti-abortion Coat Hanger

It took me a second to find the very dark ironic humor in this one. Just think about it for a second.

Frivolity Break (Vulgar Edition): Better Off Ted Outtakes

Apropos of absolutely nothing (except for a complete disinterest in politics and news today, and a free Netflix trial), here is an extremely funny--but utterly not safe for work (NSFW)--clip from the sadly under appreciated, cancelled ABC comedy, Better Off Ted. It's a huge favorite of mine, from one of the funnier episodes. A bit of explanation: the aired version contained insults and epithets that were aired on broadcast television, and thus not truly vulgar. This clip allowed the actors to run wild with the most off-color profanities they could think of. The results are hilarious. But don't say I didn't warn you.

Meanwhile, I'll try to get more into the swing of blogging again on Thursday night. Probably.

The Ballad of Sarah Palin by Lady Bunny

Is this funny? Yes. Is it silly? Yes. Is it stupid? Mmm, okay. Inappropriate? Yeah, maybe. But here it is anyway. . .

Sarah Palin: Waiting to Inhale? Lip Smacking Good!

Lots of people in the spotlight have little tics or odd mannerisms that can really bug when you clue into them. President Obama has a problem with "uhhhhs". George W. Bush had that weird, grinding coke-jaw thing, as well as an annoying chuckle/snicker. John Boner Boehner pulls back the corners of his mouth in a distracting twitch (something only I seem to notice).  So how about Sarah Palin? She's well known for a voice that makes liberals' ears bleed. She's prone to winking, pointing, and making that tchk! noise for punctuation. But here's something you might not have noticed. She audibly inhales. A lot. And she smacks her lips. Also a lot. Check it out.

Fun With Photoshop / Separated at Birth: Glenn Beck

I'm sorry, I know that there is precious little about the image on the left that is funny. But the image on the right. . .well, it takes a second to notice how much Photoshop is involved here. Glenn Beck is still recognizable with most of his face missing? Anyway, it gave me a chuckle. Forgive me if you don't have the dark funny bone I do.
