The Rudest (and Funniest) Bomb Movie Review You'll Ever See: PIXELS

I've never heard of MovieBob, but I'm a brand new, instant fan. It's like someone took The Rude Pundit, crossed him with Lewis Black, hopped up the result on energy shots and gave him the task of reviewing a shitty movie. It's spectacular, and from the looks of things, more entertaining than the movie by a long shot. But be warned: it's profane. In a good way, but your boss (or your spouse or your mom) might night think so.

You've been warned.

Rude Pundit: On Cowardly Democrats

Lee Papa, The Rude Pundit
I wrote recently on the Democrats' maddening tendency toward cowardice, particularly during campaigns. Instead of touting the strengths of say, ObamaCare, they instead pretend they have never heard of it. That kind of thing. But, as usual, somebody done it better already: The Rude Pundit. As usual, it's more than worth a read.

[Excerpt]

Democrats Once Again Put on Their Coward Pants (With Exceptions)

Look, you can cavil all you want about Kentucky Democratic Senate nominee Alison Lundergan Grimes's refusal to answer whether or not she voted for Barack Obama. You can sit there all self-satisfied and pat yourself on the fuckin' back that you support the sanctity of the secret ballot and that, really, it's not all that important that she answer. You can pretend all you want that Grimes is correct to stand on principle or that, if she said that she voted for Obama, it would be used in attack ads endlessly by that unrepentant, smug cuntface, Mitch McConnell. You know that it's far, far more important that McConnell refuses to say if he thinks climate change is human-caused or that Kynect, Kentucky's Obamacare exchange, would be harmed if you got rid of Obamacare, something the governor of Kentucky ripped McConnell for. That's shit that affects the daily lives of Kentuckians, not what Grimes did in a voting booth. . .

America the Stupid: GOP Poor Love ObamaCare, Just Not the "Obama" Part

Idiots. Plain and simple. Like those teabaggers who would say, "keep your government hands off of my Medicare," anyone who is enjoying insurance for the first time, on account of the Affordable Care Act, and yet plans to vote Republican anyway. . .is an idiot. Those same Republicans have held how many votes--60?--to try to repeal "ObamaCare." They held a relentless campaign to demonize it, practically from its first formative step, to well after its introduction. They were so successful at making it seem that the ACA is the most evil piece of legislation ever, that even those who like it, hate it, if you just phrase the question right. Why would someone in such a position vote against their best interests? And yet they do. Consistently.

The Rude Pundit
Here's a great piece by Lee Papa, The Rude Pundit, from last week on the subject.

[Excerpt]

Toothless Hicks Agree: We Love Obamacare, Wish a White Man Had Signed It

So the New York Times interviewed people in Kentucky who have taken advantage of one part or another of the Affordable Care Act, especially the expansion of Medicaid. Robin Evans, a 49 year-old with high blood pressure and Graves' disease, is just "tickled to death" to have insurance coverage, which she had gone without for years. Of course, she's gonna vote Mitch McConnell out of office since he has made it his mission to repeal the ACA. Said Evans, "Born and raised Republican...I ain’t planning on changing now. . ."

The Rude Pundit on the Re-naming of the Washington Redskins

Lee Papa, The Rude Pundit
As with everything else in this country, the controversy over the Washington Redskins name seems to have become a right versus left issue. And though I'd usually side with the left anyway, I can safely say that in this case, I'm unequivocally, absolutely, indubitably, unapologetically correct. There is no other justifiable answer but that the Redskins should change their name. Period.

I could go on at length as to why--though really, it shouldn't be necessary--but I don't need to. Because, The Rude Pundit, one of my favorite writers, has written a piece so brilliant (and of course, rude), that it simply can't be improved upon. If you doubt me, read it, and leave me a comment that refutes it. Dare ya.

I'm guessing die-hard Redskins supporters would
think this old GE ad is okay too? Image from source.

Regarding Racism and Redskins

. . .Casual, quotidian racism was everywhere; it was a part of the American cultural landscape as much as it was part of the American sociopolitical landscape. Advertising was filled with unsubtle racist caricatures. Tom and Jerry cartoons, into the 1950s, featured a Mammy who was constantly reacting to Tom's behavior. Aunt Jemima? Uncle Ben? Rastus, the Cream of Wheat chef? This shit was America, inescapable, insidious, and ubiquitous. . .

The Funniest, Dirtiest, Rudest Benghazi Write-up You'll Ever Read

The incomparable Lee Papa, The Rude Pundit
There are some perennial Right Wing World outrages, during the Obama Era. The undercurrent is always the same: we hate this guy, and oppose anything he's for, even if we'd otherwise agree with it. But they keep coming back to several topics, and they pop up like Whack-A-Mole, in between whatever big stories are in the news cycle. ObamaCare™ has been one of the biggest ones, but when it wanes (and no plane has recently gone missing), up crops the IRS "scandal," NSA privacy issues (this one bugs both sides, me included), Michelle and the girls travelling (horrors), and of course, Benghazi!!!

Benghazi was the thing that was going to stop Barack Obama's second term. Then it was going to be his undoing, after the election. Now, they're hoping they can hang it around presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton's neck. But the truth is, as terrible as the attack on Benghazi was, most people don't consider it to be a scandal, and most of the rest don't care. Benghazi excites the base (they're an excitable bunch), but it doesn't rile anyone else. Now, it seems even some prominent conservatives are getting the message that Benghazi is pretty much over as an issue. But that doesn't mean they're happy about it.

[Excerpt]

Boehner's Benghazi Blues

Man, the GOP wanted Benghazi to be more than just another c**ktease. To be sure, Benghazi was good at it, rubbing its scandal-tightened ass up against the GOP's groin until the GOP was aching with a desire to furiously f**k Benghazi. Goddamn, what a little slut Benghazi was, all whored out in a little skirt and see-through top with a red lacy bra under it. Just those lips, those tarted-up, red-lipsticked, d**k-sucking lips, invited the GOP to get it up and get ready to. . .

Rude Pundit Explains GOP Debt Ceiling Extortion Attempt

I can only aspire to rival The Rude Pundit
Best analogy ever:

[Excerpt]

Here's the entire strange, ominous, and enraging place we find ourselves in our politics right now, boiled down to a simple conversation, a playlet, if you will:

Sane Person: We need food. Can I use your car to go to the store?
Crazy Person: We do need food. However, you can use my car only if you punch yourself in the balls until you vomit.
Sane Person: That's ridiculous. One thing has nothing to do with the other. How would that accomplish anything?
Crazy Person: It's what I want.
Sane Person: Well, I guess we'll just starve.
Crazy Person: Yes, but remember that if we starve, it will be your fault because you didn't punch yourself in the balls until you vomit.

Aaand...scene.

Brilliant!

Rude Pundit Explains Dickishness of Congress' Budget Vote

Lee Papa, The Rude Pundit
Republicans are adamant that if the Senate or the President shuts down their bargain--we'll pass a continuing resolution on the budget if ObamaCare is defunded--then it will be Democrats who shut down the government.  This is a lot like being blackmailed and refusing to pay, and then having the blackmailer claim you're responsible for your own broken knee caps. And if you think that's maybe not the best turn of a phrase, or a strained analogy, then just check out The Rude Pundit's take on the whole thing. It's brilliant.

[Excerpt]

The Next Step in Budget Blackmail: Forced Resignation?

Let us say, and why not, that back sometime in mid-2007, when President George W. Bush's approval rating was consistently below 35%, heading to sporadically below 30% in 2008, the Democratic-led House of Representatives decided that, since they couldn't get enough votes to impeach and convict Bush on, let's say, war crimes, they would allow the government to continue operating with a continuing resolution only if Bush and Cheney resigned from office. Indeed, at nearly the same time as the continuing resolution was passed, so was a hike in the debt ceiling, which was expected to be hit in October 2007. So, yes, they could have even said they'd allow the U.S. to default if Bush and Cheney didn't step down. . .

Quote of the Day: The Rude Pundit on "Playing Politics"

This probably doesn't belong under Quote of the Day, because it wasn't today, but it's worth pointing out anyway. Have you noticed that after there is a mass shooting, if anyone dares talk about what might be done to prevent a future occurrence, they're met with, "Now is not the time! Don't play politics with gun control after this awful tragedy!" After Sandy Hook happened, and it felt like there might actually be some meaningful change, parents of slain children who were working toward that change were criticized for "playing politics" and exploiting the deaths of their own children. Wow. Harsh, right? It happens all the time, on a variety of subjects.

Oddly though, the right wing is allowed to play their version of politics. If a mass shooting happens, they are instantly on the defensive, shooting down (heh) any whisper of talk about gun control. Isn't that playing politics? Anyway, that's The Rude Pundit's point, and I should just stop yammering and give it to you:

His royal rudeness, Lee Papa
". . .In the aftermath of the Newtown massacre, it was wrong, according to you, to talk about gun control. Now, in the wake of the nightmarish destruction of the Moore tornado, you tell us it's wrong to talk about climate change and it's wrong to say things that mock right-wing responses to other tragedies. We should wait, you say, wait until the bodies are recovered, the bodies are buried, the bodies are mourned. Of course, even when politicians and pundits wait, you then say that they are exploiting a tragedy for political gain. Like 9/11. Oh, wait. That was you, so it doesn't count, of course, sorry, forgot. . ." --The Rude Pundit

Gun March Coming to DC Because: Tyranny!

Image from source, Liberals Unite
It just keeps rolling in. If you'd never been to this blog before, you'd think I was a gun control activist, but no. It's just that the news cycle is top-heavy with gun nutters these days. And I find myself on the--I don't know, sane?--side of the issue.

I hardly know where to start with this bizarre, deliberately provocative, paranoid, batshit event, but I'll make two observations:

1) The group and the leader of this event illustrate no evidence of this "tyranny" they're railing against. But how are we to discern from their actions and words that they are patriots rather than traitors? And how would the authorities make that decision?

2) What would this group's reaction be if an identical protest were taken up by a group of militant, fundamentalist Muslims? And I'm not talking about the white, Russian type, but the full-on, Middle-Eastern, turbaned and bearded variety. I have a funny feeling that Adam Kokesh and his lunatic band of idiots would have a brand new definition of the 2nd amendment, and who it applies to. Don't you?

[Excerpt

Fomenting Rebellion In An Armed March On Washington

". . .This is an act of civil disobedience, not a permitted event. We will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny. We are marching to mark the high water mark of government & to turn the tide. This will be a non-violent event, unless the government chooses to make it violent. . ."

Assholes.

Rude Pundit's "Guns for Gays" Plan

This is one of the funniest things I've read in a while.

[Excerpt]

Guns for Gays

"Here's what has to happen: we gotta get gays and lesbians by the thousands...no, no, by the tens of thousands to buy guns. No, wait, even better. Someone call George Soros for some major scratch. We gotta start a program to arm Ls and Gs and Bs and Ts and even Qs with the baddest ass guns currently legal, motherfuckin' AR-15s and fuckin' .50 caliber rifles, toss in some pistols like Glocks and Magnum revolvers. And get 'em all concealed carry and whatever other licenses they need. Then, once all the gays got themselves armed, they need to start showing up with their guns, all tricked out in the most over-the-top outfits. . ."

Quote of the Day: The Rude Pundit on Rush Limbaugh

Lee Papa, The Rude Pundit
There are those sad days, where--even though I've been blogging for 5½ years--I realize that I'm sadly one of the lesser lights in the blogosphere. Or, at least, compared to Lee Papa, The Rude Pundit I'm just an also-ran. Check out the first bit from his most recent post:

"Think of radio host Rush Limbaugh at this point as an old, wounded walrus, lying half on the rocks of an Alaskan island, half in the water, bellowing sadly into the Arctic night, waiting to be finished off by either a polar bear or a killer whale, its blubber being enough to keep other beasts warm for the entire approaching winter. . ."

Does it get better than that? I've got so much room for improvement. . .

The Rude Pundit Assesses Mitt Romney's Chances

The Rude Pundit, Lee Papa.
I am far too skittish when it comes to politics to count my chickens before they're hatched. Even given the large margin by which President Obama beat John McCain in 2008, I was still on pins and needles. I think I'm primed for defeat, given 2000, 2004, 2010 and all of the lost marriage equality votes. Also, while I think that Mitt Romney is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad candidate, I also know that Right-Wing World hates Obama. To the level of delusion. There's a reason they call it Obama Derangement Syndrome. They've actually invented a "Barack Hussein Obama" who bears little resemblance to the genuine article.

It's actually kind of amazing that we're where we are. Though I don't blame the state of the union on the President, I certainly can see how people could. It would be an ideal year for a party switch, historically. So, how did Republicans end up with Romney? He was literally the best they could do. Remember the clown show that was the primary fight? There is nobody on deck. Even the potential VP picks are spectacularly underwhelming or of limited appeal. Still, I'm gonna be sweating it until November, I just know me. Oh, to have the confidence (and wit) of The Rude Pundit.

[Excerpt]

The Real Reason Mitt Romney Is Losing and Will Lose

". . .As people begin to write pre-mortem postmortems of Mitt Romney's campaign, you're going to see many question why and how, how in the world, indeed, could a candidate of Romney's vintage be losing. There will be conservatives who are smug about Romney having never been a true crazy right-winger. There will be conservatives who try to throw him a life preserver, like bald demon Reihad Salam at CNN, whose "Why Mitt Romney Is Losing" editorial is full of floaties. For instance, Salam posits a fantasy Romney, one who actually comes up with plans to, say, regulate banks once the weak Dodd-Frank bill is burned by some fantasy Congress. On the left, Charles Blow in the New York Times says of the one-term governor's strategy of just plain, f*cking lying about what Barack Obama is doing, "Romney has to find a line of attack that works because there is a creeping feeling beginning to overtake part of the electorate that his candidacy is in trouble. The problem is that these sorts of desperate, baseless attacks only amplify the sense of panic. . ."

Quote of the Day: The Rude Pundit on Romney at Bain

"So, by extension, Romney is saying that he could be President but not be responsible for what happens to the nation."

Rude Pundit Takes Newt to the Woodshed

I rarely litter the blog with words worse then damn or hell (though I've been known to sneak a few shits and fucks through!). But truth be told, I often censor myself. I've hit the delete key, and replaced a colorful word with one that is less so. Truth be told, I wouldn't mind taking that self-imposed restriction off a little more often. The world today often calls for it. But even if I did, I'd be unable to match the flair and the organic profanity of The Rude Pundit. With or without expletives, he's always on point.

[Excerpt]

Gingrich Wins South Carolina as the GOP Embraces the Devil

. . .The idea that Newt Gingrich is positioning himself as some kind of Washington outsider is so laughable that it's pathetic. He has physically lived in the DC area for over 30 years. That meeting with members of Congress in 2008 wasn't some kind of anomaly: it's what he's been doing since he was whipped out of Congress by the members of his own party, not by Democrats, not by the elite media he so derides and uses as a safe foil for his own arrogance. The idea that a multimillionaire can position himself as the poor man against Romney is mind-boggling. The idea that he can keep berating the press without anyone in the press calling him on it is just depressing. . .

Choice Words from The Rude Pundit

Tell me something. How was I supposed to not post an excerpt of the following article with a title like this?

[Excerpt]

A Brief List of Conservative Men Who Need to Be Punched in the Balls:

. . .3. Presidential candidate Rick Santorum, who said yesterday that it's snobby to think that all kids should go to college. No, really: "Who are you? Who are you to say that every child in America go...I mean the hubris of this president to think that he knows what’s best for you. I...you know there is...I have seven kids. Maybe they’ll all go to college. But, if one of my kids wants to go and be an auto mechanic, good for him. That’s a good-paying job. . ."

First off, a starting auto mechanic makes around $30,000 a year in New Hampshire, so, hey, Rick Santorum's kids, your Dad wants you to live at less than 1.5 times the poverty level for a family of four (and you will breed, being Rick Santorum's kids).

Second off, what the motherf**k is Santorum talking about? . . .

Rude Pundit Gives Sarah Palin Respect She is Due: None

Image from (no joke) Church Times
On this blog, I can get snarky. I can get finger-waggy. But it's not often that I get rude. Okay, maybe I do on occasion, but since I'm on Blogger and I don't want to get blocked, banned or deleted, I try to keep my rudeness tamped down a bit.  But sometimes, rudeness is called for, and nobody does it better than The Rude Pundit.  And nobody deserves it more than Sarah Palin.

[Excerpt]

Memo to Sarah Palin: A President (or Governor) Is Not a CEO:

Could someone please hold a flip phone up to Sarah Palin and get her saying something like, "We use Trig as a door stop"? No, really, could someone get this nouveau riche redneck tw@t on camera talking about how she'd never shop at Wal-Mart 'cause she might get some trailer trash tears on her? 'Cause the idea that she is "a force" in the American political discourse is like coming across a tribe in the jungle that worships a monkey head. . .

The Rude Pundit Goes After Ann Coulter. Blogger Happy.

Photo from AssociatedContent

Ann Coulter hasn't really made a big splash lately. Her shtick played better in the old Bush days (can you believe it's only been 10 months?). But she keeps popping up on FOX "News" and other random venues, spewing her mindless prattle. She even still has a newspaper column, which--so my conservative friends insist--sometimes make a good point or two amongst the flotsam.

So why am I writing about her? Because The Rude Pundit just wrote a great piece on her that I wanted to share. And I haven't linked to a Rude post in a good long while. It's about time. WARNING: Rude's column is. . .well. . .rude. So expect some harsh (but appropriate) language.

[Excerpt]

Why Ann Coulter Is a Cunt, Part 45,307 (with a Note on Fox "news" Biases)

. . .But it's pathetic, really, truly, in a "Look at the rabbits, Lenny" kind of way, how now, with Ted Kennedy dead and the Chappaquiddick arrows gone, Coulter's quiver of reference points is getting emptier and emptier. All she's really got left is passive aggressive Bill Clinton sex remarks. Reading her columns these days, now that she's been out-batshitted by Glenn Beck and out-babed by Sarah Palin, is not unlike listening to a toothless meth addicted woman at a bar tell you how hot she used to be and won't you please let her suck your d**k for a dollar. . .

Quote of the Day: From the Rude Pundit

I love this:

"There's not a nickel's worth of difference between the mobs of white people shouting at black children walking into a newly-integrated school and the people standing up and shouting at members of Congress at town halls. And they have to be fought in much the same way, which means the government needs to ignore them."
